William Shakespeare (baptised 26 April 1564 23 April 1616) was an English poet and playwright, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's preeminent dramatist.[1] He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon" (or simply "The Bard"). By concluding Shall I Compare Thee to a Summers Day with the fateful couplet that he so chose, it may be argued that, though, yes, Shakespeare was comparing his subject to a Summers Day, Shall I Compare Thee to a Summers Day is a proverbial work on literary immortality.
