FEB O Brasil na Segunda Guerra Mundial - Brazil at War-II By FSNOBREGA BEF-Brazilian Expeditionary Force was shipped to Italy from July 2nd 1944 to February 8th 1945.In Italy, BEF became part of the 5th American Army, under the command of General Mark Wayne Clark and its first combat actions took place in early September 1944, at the Arno River sector, near the city of Pisa. In the last days of its offensive, BEF besieged and captured the German 148th Infantry Division (commanded by General Otto Fretter Pico) and the Italia Division (commanded by General Mario Carloni), reaching the Po valley and then heading northwest, to link with French troops at the city of Susa on May 2, 1945. Em 1942, consolidado o "pacto" de nações americanas e após a 3ª conferência pan-americana sediada no Rio de Janeiro-BR, o Brasil cessa relações com países do EIXO, estes como retaliação afundam vários navios Brasileiros da frota civil que transportavam material estratégico aos EUA, O Presidente Getúlio Vargas, simpatizante dos países do "EIXO", reluta em não se envolver no Conflito; Em 1943 mais cinco navios da Marinha mercante são torpedeados, ceifando centenas de vidas. O povo exige uma resposta do Governo. O ministro da guerra, o General Eurico Gaspar Dutra aconselha o presidente, uma imediata decisão. Com a guerra declarada contra o Eixo, logo é criada a Força Expedicionária Brasileira (FEB). O Brasil iria participar com um efetivo de 100.000 homens ao lado dos aliados, mas estava fora da realidade do nosso país para aquela época além de inviável para o Comando aliado absorver este contingente já que o Brasil não tinha equipamentos adequados para esta guerra. Então ficou acertado que o Brasil mandaria ao Teatro de operações no mediterrâneo 1/4 desse contingente, cerca de pouco mais de 25.000 homens. O General Dutra convida o General Mascarenhas de Moraes para Comandar a Divisão expedicionária (FEB), aceito imediatamente. Parte da Itália fascista já havia sido liberada em 1943, mais predominava uma forte resistência ao norte desse país, com grande valor estratégico aos interesses do eixo. Era, portanto, imperativo romper essa barreira. (denominada de "Linha Gótica"). Em 1944, o primeiro escalão da FEB sob o comando do General Zenóbio, segue para a Itália com um contingente de 5.000 homens, uma viagem dura e cansativa. Por questões de segurança a tropa não sabia seu destino. A chegada do primeiro escalão na Itália, é marcada por muitas dificuldades. Ao chegar ao porto de Nápoles, faltavam os caminhões de transporte de tropas, prometido pelo comando aliado; Foi decidido então uma penosa caminhada 30 kms ao destino em marcha de estrada carregando mochilões, sem armas, e pior, com fardamentos parecidos com os dos Alemães, a tropa chegou a ser confundida com prisioneiros de guerra. Chegando ao destino, mais uma para a FEB, faltava barracas para abrigar a Tropa Brasileira, O General Mascarenhas de Moraes intercede junto ao Comando aliado equipamentos adequados aos Brasileiros. Os praças logo se adaptam a realidade de uma guerra. Enfim, são muitas as Histórias da FEB, é isso que tento mostrar neste "filmete". Espero que gostem, e passem a admirar a FEB como eu admiro. Jewish Student Fakes Hate Crime By panzermacher WASHINGTON November 5, 2007 -- George Washington University officials said a Jewish student who complained about swastikas showing up on her door put them there herself. The student lives in Mitchell Hall, where half a dozen swastikas had shown up on her dorm room door in the past several weeks. University police set up a hidden camera. They said the girl admitted responsibility Monday. News 4 interviewed the student last week after the fifth swastika was discovered. She did not want to be identified. "It's a big story," said Jake Sherman, GW Hatchet editor. "Thirty percent of GW students are Jewish" Reporters at the GW Hatchet newspaper have been following the story since it began. They said they learned on Monday morning that the alleged victim would likely be implicated. They said they spoke to her twice by phone. According to reporters at the newspaper, the student said, "I wasn't looking to create this sort of insanity. I wasn't looking to become a media darling. I was just looking for acknowledgment from the university that someone drew a swastika on the door." In four raids, 1,300 heavy bombers dropped more than 3,900 tons of high-explosive bombs and incendiary devices on the city, the baroque capital of the German state of Saxony. The resulting firestorm destroyed 39 square kilometres (15 sq mi) of the city centre. Estimates of civilian casualties vary greatly... // Luftangriffe auf Dresden wurden im Zweiten Weltkrieg von der Royal Air Force (RAF) und der United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) auf den Großraum Dresden geflogen. Davon sind die vier Angriffswellen vom 13. bis 15. Februar 1945 in die Geschichte eingegangen. Große Teile der Innenstadt wurden zerstört. Diese Angriffe waren nicht die schwersten im Luftkrieg im Zweiten Weltkrieg. Doch veranlassten oft gerade sie Kritik an der alliierten Kriegführung seit 1942, besonders an der britischen Area Bombing Directive. Umstritten ist, ob solche Flächenbombardements militärisch notwendig und zweckmäßig waren sowie ob sie auch nach damaligem Kriegsvölkerrecht als Kriegsverbrechen zu werten sind.
