His efforts to mount her and mate have so far been unsuccessful, as she has yet to become more comfortable around him. The dingo is an endangered type of wolf that has lived on the Australian mainland for thousands of years and evolved alongside prey species to establish efficient and well balanced ecosystems. It is the only animal capable of keeping Australian wildlife healthy by keeping prey and pest species in check. Unfortunately, like our Tasmanian tiger in our shameful past, he is being vilified and killed off by powerful rural and hunting lobbies that clasp an abundance of ignorance, cruelty and greed. When too much fresh groundwater is pumped from aquifers close to seawater, the change in gradients caused by the pumping can result in a flow of salt water into the well. It is called "seawater intrusion". With India's demand for water increasing at an exponential rate, this is a developing disaster. Salt water invasion affects 1,125 kilometres of coastline and is spreading at the rate of 550 square kilometres every year. Eighty-five percent of the population is involved in water-dependant livelihoods, so it is imperative that a solution be found as quickly as possible. Gujarat is the worst affected state. This film goes in search of solutions to this silent crisis. Peacock calling - Pavo cristatus By screenshot Indian Blue Peafowl (Pavo cristatus) also known as Blue Peacock, is the national bird of India. The male (peacock) has beautiful iridescent blue-green or green coloured plumage. The so-called "tail" of the peacock, also termed the "train," is in fact not the true tail but highly elongated upper tail coverts. The train feathers have a series of eyes that are best seen when the tail is fanned. This movie also gives a rear view of an Indian Blue Peacock's tail feathers. Peafowl (both cock and hen) have a head crest. The female (peahen) has a mixture of dull green, brown, and grey in her plumage. She lacks the long tail of the male but has a crest. Mating season starts in the early Spring and ends in the early Autumn. The peacock's courtship rituals include the display of its startling plumage and a loud call. Recent studies have shown that both the frequency and quality of sexual plumage displays by males are reliable indicators of the health status of an individual.
