Timi Yuro "I can't stop loving you" was originally written and recorded by a country singer named Don Gibson in 1958. His version was released as the b-side of his "Oh lonesome me". Kitty Wells, who was a very popular country singer, recorded this later in 1958, her version was a huge country hit. "I can't stop loving you" was recorded by Ray Charles in 1962, it was his first golden record and won a Grammy Award in 1962 for Best Rhythm and Blues recording. "I can't stop loving you" by Timi, a track from the cd "All alone am I", this vinyl lp with the same name was Timi's huge come-back in 1981 in The Netherlands, rushed to the top of the charts giving Timi a triple platinum lp and two top singles, "Hurt" and "All alone am I". Timi first started singing in public at her parents' restaurant, one day one of the customers heard Timi singing in the kitchen, he yelled through the swinging doors. "Come out here and let us hear some of that stuff!" so Timi made her debut, so to speak, straight from the kitchen sink. In high school, Timi started singing with a group. One boy was named Troy Walker, and soon they were doing duets. the duets led to an occasional solo for Timi. one of her first songs she sang was Hurt, that finally got her started as a professional. Usually the story ends there, with the song being rushed-released; an instant hit. An interesting addendum to the legend was later revealed by Timi. She told that Liberty was not completely sold on the finished recording of "Hurt". Her goals frustrated once again, she rebelliously made an acetate dub of "Hurt"and brought it to a Chicago disc jockey. The d.j immidiately played it as a "pick hit".Liberty was not all pleased with this turn of events. It was when the radio stations began calling up to ask for the record that the label realized it had a potential smash. Due credit for the succes of "Hurt" must go to the song's producer, Clyde Otis. NOTE: Timi Yuro is considered to be one of the first "blue-eyed" soul stylist of the rock-era, and the first white female artist to sing at New York's legendary's Apollo Theater in Harlem. Due credit for Timi's performance at the Apollo Theater must go to Clyde Otis, Timi's producer, he went with her to New York and made her sing at the Apollo Theater. Many listeners in the early 60's thought Yuro was black, others thought she was a Japanese boy. Timi appeared in a black and white Philippines film "Buhay Marino" (life of a sailor)in 1967, as a guest star with Philippine comedians Dolphy (real name Rodolfo Quizon)and Panchito (real name Alfonso Tagle)and possibly "Hindi Tayo Talo" and "Incognito". The latter two films were made in 1962. Scopitone Jukebox film Timi sings "If" 1964 usa. Timi Yuro returned to her Italian origins with the 1965 release "E poi verra 'l' autunno" - "Ti Credo", recorded for entry in Italy's San Remo festival. Timi Yuro reached the half final and won an award for her performance. Timi appeared a second time at the San Remo festival in 1968 and sang "Le solite cose". The casino Of San Remo is the oldest one in Italy, and has always shown a great passion for music. It housed, since it's birth the Italian San Remo festival, the "Domenica" and "Dopofestival" and many more events linked to the festival until 1976. Wells antes de apostar por el realismo. Redacción, 20 julio (CERES TELEVISIÓN / AGENCIAS) Hoy se cumple el 40 aniversario del alunizaje del Apolo XI, de la que saldría Neil Armstrong para dar ese "pequeño paso para el hombre, gran paso para la humanidad" sobre la Luna. Pero en el cine hacía ya mucho que se había conquistado el satélite. Corría el año 1902 cuando el francés Georges Méliès filmó "Le voyage dans la lune", una pequeña joya muda de apenas 14 minutos para la que diseñó algunos de los primeros efectos especiales de la historia del cine, incluida esa cápsula espacial que aluniza en el ojo derecho del satélite terrestre. "Fue un éxito en todo el mundo y resultó muy influyente", dijo a Efe Jonathan Kuntz, profesor de la Escuela de Cine, TV y Teatro de la Universidad California Los Ángeles. Aquella imagen icónica de la Luna accidentada fue posteriormente utilizada en videoclips tan populares como el de "Tonight, Tonight", de The Smashing Pumpkins, o "Heaven for Everyone", de Queen. "Fue además una de las primeras películas de la historia que contaba una historia, con su introducción, nudo y desenlace. Y ayudó a introducir la idea de que el cine podía retratar fantasías, mundos exteriores y ciencia-ficción; es decir, podía expresar nuestra imaginación más allá de lo que podemos experimentar", añadió Kuntz. El guión de este filme se basaba libremente en "De la Tierra a la Luna", novela escrita por Verne en 1865, y en "Los primeros hombres en la Luna", ideada por Wells en 1901. Pero también hubo quien arrojó nuevas ideas. FRITZ LANG SE ADELANTÓ EN 1929 AL "PROBLEMA" DEL APOLO XIII El visionario austríaco Fritz Lang, adelantándose a su tiempo como ya hiciera en "Metropolis", imaginó en 1929 "Die Frau im Mond", una película donde un problema con el tanque de oxígeno obliga a parte de la tripulación ya en la Luna en busca de oro, a regresar a la Tierra antes de tiempo, como le ocurriría realmente años después al Apolo XIII. En plena Guerra Fría llegó Stanley Kubrick con "2001: una odisea del espacio" (1968) para hablar en su argumento sobre "el lado oscuro de la Luna". Años después, su pupilo Steven Spielberg creó "Encuentros en la tercera fase" (1977), cuando el interés por la carrera especial estaba en la cúspide. "Aquellas películas trataban sobre creer en lo imposible, sobre la capacidad del hombre para ir más allá de nuestro propio planeta", apuntó a Efe Crickett Rumley, profesora de la Escuela de Cine y Actuación de Nueva York. Pero sin duda la película definitiva hasta ahora sobre esta temática es "Apolo XIII" (1995), de Ron Howard, protagonizada por Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, Kevin Bacon y Ed Harris. "Houston, tenemos un problema". Con esa frase comenzó una de las peores pesadillas de la NASA, cuando explotaron los tanques de oxígeno del Apolo XIII, y los astronautas Jim Lovell, Fred Haise y John Swigert tuvieron que abortar su anhelado paseo lunar, con el riesgo de no regresar con vida a la Tierra. La NASA permitió a Howard construir parte de sus escenarios en un simulador también llamado "el cometa del vómito" que durante 23 segundos conseguía recrear una situación en la que no existe la fuerza de la gravedad. DECAE EL INTERÉS CINEMATOGRÁFICO EN LA LUNA Sin embargo, la Luna ya no es un objetivo principal para la industria del cine, a pesar de éxitos como "Cowboys del espacio" (2000), de Clint Eastwood, en la que el personaje de Tommy Lee Jones, postrado sobre una roca lunar, visualizaba el globo terrestre mientras sonaba de fondo "Fly Me to the Moon", de Frank Sinatra, en el plano final del filme. "Cuanto más supimos sobre la Luna, menor era el interés del cine en ella porque no había tantos misterios. Por eso Marte puede darle el testigo, como ya apuntó Brian De Palma (Misión a Marte, 2001), aunque puede que veamos películas sobre la colonización de la Luna", indicó Kuntz. Por el momento España pondrá su granito de arena a este subgénero con la llegada de "Black to the Moon", una cinta de animación en 3-D producida por Baleuko (Durango), cuya protagonista es Coco, una oveja que está convencida de que ha nacido en la Luna.
