AMUL story of INDIA documentary in HINDI Part 1 of 2 (The taste of india) Amul (Anand Milk Union Limited), formed in 1946, is a dairy cooperative movement in India. It is a brand name managed by an apex cooperative organisation, Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), which today is jointly owned by some 2.8 million milk producers in Gujarat, India. AMUL is based in Anand, Gujarat and has been a sterling example of a co-operative organization's success in the long term. It is one of the best examples of co-operative achievement in the developing economy. "Anyone who has seen ... the dairy cooperatives in the state of Gujarat, especially the highly successful one known as AMUL, will naturally wonder what combination of influences and incentives is needed to multiply such a model a thousand times over in developing regions everywhere." The Amul Pattern has established itself as a uniquely appropriate model for rural development. Amul has spurred the White Revolution of India, which has made India the largest producer of milk and milk products in the world[citation needed. It is also the world's biggest vegetarian cheese brand. Amul is the largest food brand in India and world's Largest Pouched Milk Brand with an annual turnover of US $1050 million (2006-07). Currently Amul has 2.8 million producer members with milk collection average of 10.16 million litres per day. Besides India, Amul has entered overseas markets such as Mauritius, UAE, USA, Bangladesh, Australia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and a few South African countries. Its bid to enter Japanese market in 1994 had not succeeded, but now it has fresh plans of flooding the Japanese markets The birth of Amul at Anand provided the impetus to the cooperative dairy movement in the country. The Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited was registered on December 14, 1946 as a response to exploitation of marginal milk producers by traders or agents of existing dairies in the small town named Anand (in Kaira District of Gujarat). Zarine Khan gets cautious about looking pretty? Zarine Khan entered, all 5 feet 8 inches of her and the room was filled with her beautiful presence. Dressed in a green and red Ashley Rebello sari she looked absolutely stunning. Yes, she does look a lot like Katrina. But she is so very charming in her own way. She was late, rather fashionably late we'd say and profusely apologised saying, "The more you try to hasten, the longer you take to get ready. Since it is my first public appearance, I was all the more cautious about looking pretty." Then the actress switched to Hindi. All doubts about her origin were cleared. "I don't understand this speculation about the country of my origin. I am very much Indian. I have lived in Mumbai all my life. " Of course the question about her resemblance to our favourite Bollywood beauties had to arise. "Wow I'm really flattered. I think Katrina is just so gorgeous! But when I look at myself in the mirror, I can hardly see the resemblance." When asked about her co-star Salman, she said, "He's been really supportive. They say he's a man with a short temper, but I don't think so at all. In fact, every time I wouldn't get a scene right, he'd act it out for me." And then that ever lurking question of her full bodied frame came up. "It was all for the film. I did my bit of research. Indian Princesses were more on the healthier side. So I had to put on some amount of weight. Of course, I intend to lose all of it now. I doubt if this look will work for my other films." But what about the current obsession for a Size Zero body Ms Khan? "No way! I am a Pathan. No matter how much I lose, I'll still have a big frame." At heart Zarine is just another simple Bombay girl. The only difference is that this girl is actually living her dream. "I don't believe any of this", she says, "I feel like my mum's going to shake me up and ask me to wake up from my dream."
