It uses pioneering visual effects in its depiction of a visit from St. Nicholas. A former magic lanternist and hypnotist, Smith was one of the first British film-makers to make extensive use of special effects to create fantastical scenes. It comes as little surprise that Smith corresponded with the French pioneer Georges Méliès at about this time, as the two men shared a common goal in terms of creating an authentic cinema of illusion. It is during this time that Isis developse an unnatruall relationship with her older brother Horitio... For those who don't get it: Isis falls in love with her brother Horitio, and because men are men he doesn't notice a thing. Daddy thinks it's time to force them both into an arragend marriage with the children of their next door neigbour. Luckely for Horitio, he has already fallen in love with his soon to be wife beautifull blond Estella. Isis on the other hand, consumed by jelousy, get's to deal with Estella's opposite and brother Baltazar. While Horitio and Estealla are having a jolly good time together, Isis get's abused by her own husband. In the ending Isis and Horitio meet again after severall years. Don't get the ending? I'd like to say, your loss. But I'm nice, so I won't. Isis get's into a fight with Baltazar at the end when she kinda tells him she's leaving his sorry ass. Baltazar dislikes this ofcourse and knocks her out, leaving her in the cold snow. In the end Horitio finds her. For those who think this vid is sick, Chears, mates! [View \| Download]	"The Nifty Nineties" (1941) - A Mickey Mouse Cartoon By Elera I was surprised that the complete cartoon of this wasn't on YouTube (probably got deleted already, heh heh). So, here ya go, kids! Not exactly my favorite of MIckey's ever-changing designs, as this was the era were they experimented with giving Mickey more realistic ears (ones that were attached to his head and actually had insides), and the beginning of when his tail could be seen less and less, and a shirt on his back more and more. Still, this is one of the finest examples of wonderfully timed, buttery smooth animation to a pleasing rendition of an old tune. There's just no way you can't watch that chipper little strut or that whimsical little court scene in the beginning without a smile on your face. ;) Plus, the 1890s were epic. This cartoon can be purchased in the Walt Disney Treasures box set "Mickey Mouse in Living Color: Volume Two." Nice way to show your support by buying it...not to mention you get "Runaway Brain" out of the deal.
