Ana María Orozco que hizo de "Verónica", la estrafalaria secretaria que pese a ser muy bonita era poco inteligente, pasó a hacer de "Beatriz Pinzón" o Betty, personaje central de Yo soy Betty, la fea caracterizada por su inteligencia y su poca belleza física. Julián Arango con su interpretación de "el perro Brando" fue galardonado con un Premio Simón Bolívar a Mejor Actor y nominado a los TV y Novelas en la misma categoría; en esta ultima resulto siendo vencedor Jairo Camargo Por Dios se lo pague del Canal Caracol. Ana María Orozco, por su papel de "la Vero", recibió el premio Simón Bolívar a Mejor actriz de Reparto y el premio Shock a Mejor Actriz Juvenil. También estuvo nominada, por este mismo trabajo, a los premios TV y Novelas. Al año siguente, ese reconocimiento le valió el papel protagónico en la telenovela Yo soy Betty, la fea, que llegaría a ser la novela colombiana más exitosa de la historia.
