Hum Saath Saath Hain Hum Saath Saath Hain - 1999 Starring Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Mohnish Behl, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Karishma Kapoor, Alok Nath, Rima Lagoo & Neelam, is essentially about the love and affection shared between brothers and unity within a family. Ramkishen (Alok Nath) and his wife Mamta (Reema Lagoo) live with their three sons, Vivek (Mohnish Behl), Prem (Salman Khan), and Vinod (Saif Ali Khan). Prem and Vinod have sweethearts in Preeti and Sapna (Sonali Bendre and Karisma Kapoor), but the eldest son Vivek has always been shy and introverted due to a birth handicap. The family meets with Adarsh and his daughter Sangeeta (Rajeev Verma and Tabu), and decide to get Sangeeta and Vivek get married. Though Vivek protests in the beginning Sangeeta's love and devotion wins him over and they get married. After their wedding Mamta becomes insecure, assuming that Vivek (her step-son) would become selfish and take over the business and property. In order to protect Prem and Vinod, Mamta schemes with Dhanraj (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) to alienate Vivek from the property and inheritance. This divides the family, even though Vivek & Sangeeta accept Mamta's wishes and leave the house. Due to the unconditional love and respect for his elder brother, Prem quietly revolts against his mother's decision and changes her heart. Hum Saath Saath Hain restores faith in the Indian concept of a joint family and gives Indian cinema one of the most ideal characters in its history Vivek and Prem. Ullathai Allitha (English Subtitles) - 9/14 Ullathai Allitha is about Raja - Karthik - the son of the very strict and disciplinarian Colonel Chandrashekhar - Jai Ganesh. Thotti Jaya Jayachandran (Simbhu) is an orphan and nick named 'Thotti Jaya' by the locals. He grows to be a rowdy man and spreads terror on the streets. Seena Thana (Pradeep Rawat), a mob boss notices Jaya's qualities as a rowdy, makes him his right hand henchman. In a scuffle, Jaya gets entangled in a political and police trap. He escapes to Calcutta and goes into hiding. Brinda (Gopika) is a college girl who comes to Calcutta on a tour along with her friends. Jaya accidentally meets Brinda and helps her escape from a gang. Brinda starts admiring Jaya's good nature and gradually falls in love with him. Jaya reciprocates her love, and both decide to enter into wedlock. Aradhana Dashing pilot Arun - Rajesh Khanna loves Vandana Tripathi - Sharmila Tagore, they become very intimate, and as a result Vandana gets pregnant. Arun and Vandana have a quiet wedding ceremony in the temple, and Arun leaves to re-join his duties. Unfortunately, Arun is killed, and Vandana is unable to convince anyone of her marriage with him, and as such must re-locate to hide her shame. She gives birth to a baby boy, whom she must place in an orphanage to be adopted. Unfortunately for her, the boy, Suraj, is adopted by someone else. She manages to find out their whereabouts, and gets a job as a servant. When she is about to be molested by Shyam, a relative, Suraj witnesses this, and kills him. Vandana takes the blame for this killing and is sentenced to imprisonment, leaving her son and her life behind, for a crime she did not commit. When she returns everything has changed, and she is unable to locate the family where her son was. Fantastic music and a dashing leading man aside, the main reason why Aradhana works is perhaps because of the wonderful story line and direction.
