Space Shuttle Atlantis Launch STS-122 07 February 2008 HD Video Courtesy NASA http://www.nasa.gov STS-122 was a NASA Space Shuttle mission to the International Space Station (ISS), flown by the Space Shuttle Atlantis. STS-122 marked the 24th shuttle mission to the ISS, and the 121st space shuttle flight since STS-1. The mission was also referred to as ISS-1E by the ISS program. The primary objective of STS-122 was to deliver the European Columbus science laboratory, built by the European Space Agency (ESA), to the station. It also returned Expedition 16 Flight Engineer Daniel M. Tani to Earth. Tani was replaced on Expedition 16 by Léopold Eyharts, a French Flight Engineer representing ESA. After Atlantis' landing, the orbiter will be prepared for STS-125, the final servicing mission for the Hubble Space Telescope. The completion of STS-122 leaves ten flights remaining in the Space Shuttle program until its end in 2010, excluding two as-yet-unconfirmed Contingency Logistic Flights. The original target launch date for STS-122 was December 6, 2007, but due to engine cutoff sensor (ECO) reading errors, the launch was postponed to December 9. During the second launch attempt, the sensors failed again, and the launch was halted. A tanking test on December 18 revealed the probable cause to lie with a connector between the external tank and the shuttle. HISTORICAL STATEMENT FROM TUBITAK (National Science and Technology Research Board of Turkey) THE OBJECTS CAPTURED ON FILM IN THE KUMBURGAZ SIGHTINGS ARE UFO'S The UFOs, sighted at Kumburgaz, caused great shock waves around the world and were part of the written and visual media from China to Russia and Brazil to Switzerland and will go down in the World UFO literature as one of the most significant UFO sightings. Nearly a dozen of residents at the Yeni Kent compound witnessed these sightings filmed by the night watchman named Yalcın Yalman. First of all, the Sirius UFO Space Sciences Research Center studied the footage in great detail for ten days, and as a result of the study the Sirius UFO Space Sciences Research Center concluded that the UFO sightings were geniniue and not a hoax. On January 17, 2008 the Sirius UFO Space Sciences Research held a press conference at the Dedeman Hotel flocked by the high number of attendees. The incident was announced to the public at this press conference and the aforementioned sightings were part of the news covered in both local and foreign media, TV, and newspapers as well as Internet portals. Following these developments some parties who appeared on various TV shows, starting with Prof. Adnan Öktem from the Istanbul University Department of Astronomy Sciences, Prof. Mehmet Emin Ozel from the18 March University Department of Physics and Prof. Kerem Doksat from the Istanbul University Department of Psychiatry claimed with great prejudice that the footages taken in Kumburgaz were a hoax made up by a mockup or computer animation without having conducted an analysis or any kind of study.Upon these developments the Sirius UFO Space Sciences Center CEO Haktan Akdogan took part in a National TV show and stated live in front of the cameras, that he would give the film to Prof. Adnan Oktem who wanted to have the original film of the sightings in order to have it studied at a Scientific Institution owned by the state that is highly reliable and influential, called TUBITAK The Science and Technology Research Board of Turkey. Prof. Oktem stated that he wanted the film to be analyzed at TUBITAKs National Observatory Center in Antalya this way the truth would be revealed. Afterwards both parties decided to go to TUBITAKs National Observatory Center in Antalya, accompanied by the host of the aforementioned TV show and the TV cameramen. When they got there, Haktan Akdogan handed over the original film to Prof. Oktem, who submitted the film for analysis to the scientists on duty at TUBITAK. TUBITAK, as a result of the thorough analysis it conducted it prepared an official report that stated: "The objects sighted in the aforementioned footage that have a structure that is made of specific material are definitely not made up by any kind of computer animation nor are they any form of special effects used for simulation in a studio or for a video effect therefore in conclusion it was decided that the sightings were neither a mockup or hoax. What really makes STS better and different from any other home exercise program are four things: First, STS uses what is known as a one rep max (1RM) test to make sure that everyone using the STS program uses a weight that is just right for their fitness levels. A 1RM test is simply a test where you find the maximum weight you can lift for every exercise. More details about your 1RM are provided in this booklet on page 8, but for now you should know that for every exercise in STS you will be told exactly what percentage of your 1RM you should use to make sure that you always use the correct weight for every exercise. This will help you to not only train safely, but also to maximize your results. Though you dont have to take a 1RM test to do the STS program, your results will never be as good as the results of someone who does. Second, STS is the most comprehensive workout DVD series on the market today giving you a different STS workout for each scheduled weight training day. This is important because, as mentioned earlier, by constantly changing the workouts, the benefits of the muscle confusion principle are maximized. This also helps to reduce mental fatigue and increases your probability of success with the program. Third, STS is a complete three-month workout program based on periodization in which the intensity of the exercise gradually increases over the length of the program. No other program on the market today is as comprehensively designed as STS. All the work and planning is done for you so that all you need to do is follow along. Finally, the last thing that makes the STS program different from any other exercise program is the measured rest between the sets. Thats right—the measured rest. Without getting too technical, when you lift weights you need a certain amount of recovery time between exercises using the same muscle groups so that the energy sources that power your muscles have time to replenish and recover. The amount of rest time needed depends on the intensity of your workout. As mentioned earlier, STS is composed of three four-week mesocycles that progressively get more intense. Since Mesocycle 1 (6070% of your 1RM) is the least intense of the three mesocycles you will only need a minimum rest period of about 30 seconds between exercises. InMesocycle 2 (7080% of your 1RM) you will increase your weights and thus will need a longer rest period of at least 60 seconds between sets. Finally, Mesocycle 3 (8090% of your 1RM) is the most intensive phase of the STS program and you will need a bare minimum of 2½ minutes of rest between sets using the same muscle groups. The STS program accurately measures the rest periods between each and every exercise and set so that all you have to do is watch the DVD and follow along. STS is just like having your own personal trainer who tells you how much weight you should lift and how long to rest between every set. STS-107 Space Shuttle Columbia This is a little different and is dedicated to the crew of the Space Shuttle Columbia. The seven-member crew died on February 1, 2003 when the shuttle disintegrated during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. The cause of the accident was determined to be a piece of foam that broke off during launch and damaged the thermal protection system components (reinforced carbon-carbon panels and thermal protection tiles) on the leading edge of the left wing of the Shuttle orbiter, causing an extensive heat build-up. During re-entry the damaged wing slowly overheated and came apart, eventually leading to loss of control and total disintegration of the vehicle. Crop Circles 2008 As mensagens por trás dos círculos Algumas incríveis surpresas apareceram no meio dos agroglífos da safra de 2008, além de sua costumeira beleza. Entre elas está uma intrincada formação circular próxima de Barbury Castle, descoberta em 01 de junho, e uma figura peculiar, em formato de um número oito, surgida justamente no dia 08 de agosto, em Alton Barnes, ambas na região de Wiltshire, 90 km a sudoeste de Londres. A primeira tem de extraordinário o fato de ser uma representação do número Pi, o valor da razão entre a circunferência de qualquer círculo e seu diâmetro. O número, muito conhecido dos físicos e amplamente aplicado à engenharia, é a mais antiga constante matemática que se conhece. A segunda imagem assombra por seu formato: seria coincidência que as inteligências por trás deste fenômeno produzissem uma figura perfeita do número oito justamente no dia oito do mês oito do ano de dois mil e oito? Certamente, não. Este agroglífo, assim como o de Barbury Castle e tantos outros desta estação, é clara demonstração de que o mistério se intensifica e provoca ainda mais assombro. A figura que lembra o número Pi foi encontrada em uma colheita de cevada em Barbury Castle, e a princípio era muito semelhante aos desenhos que sempre surgem no verão inglês. O agroglífo tem 95 m de diâmetro e foi inicialmente fotografado pela circóloga Lucy Pringle, que imaginou que se tratasse de uma referência a notas musicais, dispostas geometricamente. O estudioso Jeff Nills, por sua vez, achou que se tratasse de uma linha em espiral interrompida por sulcos inexplicáveis, também convergindo para o centro da imagem, representando alguns astros do Sistema Solar. Mas, para Mike Reed, astrônomo e adepto do estudo dos círculos ingleses desde 1996, a aparência insuspeita da imagem revelava algo mais do que espirais e notas musicais. Reed notou que, completando a figura e traçando raios nos sulcos do círculo, se obtinha uma figura geométrica que fornecia, através de relações entre seus ângulos e dimensões, o valor 3,141592654, que é justamente o conjunto dos primeiros algarismos do número Pi. Para um cientista habilitado em matemática, foi fácil notar que havia uma mensagem muito mais complexa do que se imaginava, e o que o desenho escondia em sua beleza. A figura encontrada em 08 de agosto, em Alton Barnes, também tem uma explicação matemática. Inicialmente, acreditou-se que seria uma representação das fases lunares, iniciando-se na data de sua descoberta e encerrando-se no dia 16 do mesmo mês, quando houve um eclipse lunar. A figura mostra, no formato do número oito, esferas representando a Lua cheia e a nova, tal como se pensou de um agroglífo descoberto na Coréia do Sul, em 12 de junho deste ano, que ainda agrega a posição de outros corpos do Sistema Solar. Novos estudos indicam que a imagem é também igualmente mais complexa e pode ser uma mensagem de algo grande que se aproxima do Sistema Solar e cogita-se numa interpretação do agroglífo à luz do Calendário Maia. Seja como for,uma coisa as imagens têm em comum: a capacidade de nos surpreender. Passada a fase do ceticismo, quando a maioria das imagens podia ser atribuída a falsificadores e de fato eles estavam por trás de muitas delas , resta agora um fenômeno indiscutível, absolutamente fascinante, que representa uma forma avançada de comunicação entre outras espécies cósmicas e a raça humana. Embora não se saiba por que os desenhos em plantações de cereais ingleses e também de outros países foi a maneira encontrada por tais inteligências para chamar nossa atenção, uma coisa é certa: elas conseguiram o que queriam.
