UK Jewish MP: Israel acting like Nazis in Gaza "Israel was born out of Jewish Terrorism" Tzipi Livnis Father was a Terrorist" Astonishing claims in the House of Parliament. SIR Gerald Kaufman, the veteran Labour MP, yesterday compared the actions of Israeli troops in Gaza to the Nazis who forced his family to flee Poland. During a Commons debate on the fighting in Gaza, he urged the government to impose an arms embargo on Israel. Sir Gerald, who was brought up as an orthodox Jew and Zionist, said: "My grandmother was ill in bed when the Nazis came to her home town a German soldier shot her dead in her bed. "My grandmother did not die to provide cover for Israeli soldiers murdering Palestinian grandmothers in Gaza. The present Israeli government ruthlessly and cynically exploits the continuing guilt from gentiles over the slaughter of Jews in the Holocaust as justification for their murder of Palestinians." He said the claim that many of the Palestinian victims were militants "was the reply of the Nazi" and added: "I suppose the Jews fighting for their lives in the Warsaw ghetto could have been dismissed as militants." He accused the Israeli government of seeking "conquest" and added: " They are not simply war criminals, they are fools." Palestinians killed in Israeli raids into Gaza - 16 April 08 More than 20 Palestinians have died in the Gaza Strip as Israel unleashed military strikes and troops moved into the centre of the territory. Navarro tiene 22 años y es el presidente más joven que ha tenido la Federación de Centros Universitarios de la Universidad Central de Venezuela. ------------------------ (Tomado de la prensa venezolana) El presidente del Colegio Nacional de Periodistas (CNP), William Echeverría en conjunto con el Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Prensa (SNTP) y el Circulo de Reporteros Gráficos de Venezuela reunidos en secretariado general ampliado hicieron un pronunciamiento público para declarar a Venezuela zona de desastre para la libertad de expresión y ejercicio libre del periodismo. condenó de manera enérgica la represión en contra de los estudiantes, universidades, periodistas y empresarios debido al cerco sistemático de todo aquel que no se vista de un color el rojo y la fomentación de la violencia desde el poder. Reiteró que la lucha de los comunicadores sociales es pacífica y que en la actualidad se encuentran resteados con la defensa de la Constitución Nacional y valores de los deberes profesionales como la libertad de información, libertad de protesta, el espíritu crítico, pluralidad del pensamiento y derecho al trabajo. Criticó el cierre de radios, televisoras, amenazas en contra de los periódicos, las leyes manipuladas y agresiones a periodistas. Cuando en la calle un trabajador de la comunicación llámese periodista, camarógrafo, reportero es agredido se están metiendo con todo el colectivo de periodistas del país ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Manifestaciones llenas de propuestas Las voces del movimiento estudiantil han retumbado en todo el país con el reclamo de soluciones a los principales problemas que aquejan a la población venezolana. La deficiencia en los servicios básicos y la inseguridad conforman, junto al cierre de medios de comunicación, las principales causas que motivaron a los universitarios a tomar las calles, no sólo para cuestionar la labor del Gobierno, sino para proponer soluciones. Sorteando la represión policial y traspasando barreras ideológicas que por años han bloqueado el acceso de disidentes a instituciones y medios oficiales, los jóvenes llegaron a Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) y a la sede de Corpoelec. Allí instaron al Gobierno a asumir su responsabilidad en los problemas del país al tiempo que hicieron peticiones y propuestas para superar las dificultades. Apenas un par de días después llegaron a la sede de la Corporación Eléctrica Nacional (Corpoelec), donde lograron hablar con el vicepresidente técnico de Cadafe, Ernesto Fuentes, a él entregaron un documento con sus exigencias y propuestas para superar la crisis eléctrica. Solicitaron que el Gobierno destine más recursos para el mantenimiento y construcción de fuentes generadoras de energía eléctrica. Asimismo instaron a consultar la opinión de expertos universitarios en el área así como coordinar con las comunidades los cortes programados. Los estudiantes no lograron cumplir con la actividad programada el pasado viernes relacionada con inseguridad, pero sí elaboraron un documento con propuestas que esperan poder entregar al ministro de Interior y Justicia, Tareck El Aissami. En el escrito exigen garantías de respeto a la autonomía universitaria y a las manifestaciones estudiantiles. Llaman a tomar en consideración a las universidades en perspectivas que puedan aportar al tema de la inseguridad así como a abrirse al aporte que puedan realizar distintos sectores, sin distingo de ideología política. "Ya basta de sacrificar eficiencia por ideología política". También llamaron al ministro a moderar el tono del discurso y no difamar. The Turkish PM stressed later that he had left the debate not because of his disagreements with Mr Peres but because he had been given much less time to speak than the Israeli leader. Turkey is one of the few Muslim countries to have dealings with Israel, but relations have been under strain since the Islamist-rooted AK Party was elected to power in 2002. Late on Thursday, a WEF official said that Mr Peres and Mr Erdogan had spoken by mobile telephone, and both men now considered the matter closed.
