Arnaud Rodrigues - A Carta de Pero Vaz de Caminha No ano de 1978 Arnaud Rodrigues, depois te ter lançado discos como "Murituri", "Baiano & Os Novos Caetanos I & II" and "Som do Paulinho",deu início a uma contribuição gigantesca para a cultura brasileira gravando a faixa 'A Carta de Pero Vaz de Caminha' , pertecente ao disco 'Redescobrimento', a música era então o primeiro reggae gravado no Brasil. Em entrevista ao site Coquetel Molotov o mesmo disse: ''Voltando nesse negócio de inovação, eu fiz coisa nova até sem saber. Se observar pelo tempo que foi lançado, o Redescobrimento do Brasil é o disco que traz o primeiro reggae gravado no país! E isso foi em 80, 81... Esse reggae se chama A Carta de Pero Vaz de Caminha, que foi a carta original que eu musiquei. Eu me lembro que quando terminei, o arranjador do disco, Lincoln Olivetti, chamou Robson Jorge, um dos maiores guitarristas que já conheci e falou assim: Bicho, olha só o que o Arnaud sacou! Isso aí é o tal do regueie. (risos). Coisa que eles nem sabiam como era.'' E ainda acrescenta: ''Era uma coisa que estava aparecendo na América Central. O público tava começando a ver aparecer as coisas de Bob Marley. E aí eu fiz esse reggae e ficou ali documentado. Se você pegar a data do surgimento do movimento reggae no Brasil e ver a data do disco, vai ver que p*** que pariu, é isso mesmo! Arnaud Rodrigues é também creditado como um dos precursores do rap nacional. A faixa Melô do Tagarela, que foi lançada em compacto pela RCA em 1979 e cantada (e falada) por Luiz Carlos Miéle, sob uma base chupada de Rappers Delight, do grupo americano Sugarhill Gang. And then Arnaud said : "It was something that was appearing in Central America. The public was starting to know more about Bob Marley. And then I did that reggae that was documented there. If you take the date of the emergence of reggae movement in Brazil and see the date of this album, you will see that: WOW,THAT'S REALLY IT! Arnaud Rodrigues is also credited as one of the pioneers of national RAP. He created the music called "Melô do Tagarela", which was released as a single by RCA in 1979 and sung and spoken by Luiz Carlos Miele, based on a musical base from Rappers Delight, the American group Sugarhill Gang. Arnaud Rodrigues was a complete artist, having rescued the best of their influences, such as "Samba de Breque", Northern Soul, Blues, Folk, Rock, between many others, and worked in a genial and especially unique way. Science Saved My Soul. Yes, many of those thinkers to whom I owe my mental freedom were religious, like Newton, a Christian, who believed God made the Earth but who then showed me why the Earth would have formed without a god's help. Or Plank and Schrodinger, two more Christians, who believed God ruled the Universe but showed me how God could not control a single electron. The discoveries these and many other people made, the laws they are famous for, are the very things that make gods getting humans pregnant, or angels whispering to prophets in caves, look infantile. I could never and would never question their intelligence. Their honesty and intellectual consistency are a different matter. Weird... I can stand on the shoulders of giants and see what even they seemingly could not. I'm not against the Creator(s), if they exist, if they ever existed. I'm not against the search for the Creator(s). Obama Speech (part 1): Indonesia is a part of me. Declaring that "Indonesia is a part of me," President Obama today offered personal reflections of the place that "shaped his childhood" and the place that he, as president, hopes will now help shape the Muslim world with their example of democracy, development and pluralism. Drawing up images of his youth spent living in Jakarta -- from "flying kites, running along paddy fields, catching dragonflies and buying satay and baso from street vendors" -- the President stuck a nostalgic tone, remembering the spirit of the people he said helped him learn to love the country. "As a young boy, I was coming to a different world. But the people of Indonesia quickly made me feel at home," Obama said from the University of Indonesia this morning, "The old men and women who welcomed us with smiles; the children who made a foreigner feel like a neighbor; and the teachers who helped me learn about the wider world: The president moved to Jakarta in 1967 then only 6 years-old from Hawaii when his mother married an Indonesian man name Lolo Soetoro. He spent for years in Jakarta living in a small house with a mango tree out front, before ultimately moving back to Hawaii. "So much has changed in the four decades since I boarded a plane to move back to Hawaii. If you asked me -- or any of my schoolmates who knew me back then -- I don't think any of us could have anticipated that I would one day come back to Jakarta as President of the United States." As president, Mr. Obama came today to Indonesia to highlight the country's embrace of democracy and pluralism meant to reach far beyond just the 6,000 who filled the audience today. The White House live-streamed the speech on their website and translated it into languages ranging from Arbaic to Urdu. Embracing those these values, he was saying to other Muslim countries, and you too can prosper "Development is strengthened by an emerging democracy. Ancient traditions endure, even as a rising power is on the move." Gone, he said, are the fields he and friends used to run though with water buffalo and goats. "A new generation of Indonesians is among the most wired in the world -- connected through cell phones and social networks. And while Indonesia as a young nation focused inward, a growing Indonesia now plays a key role in the Asia Pacific and the global economy." Similarly he held Indonesia up as an emerging democracy charting its own course, "from the rule of an iron fist to the rule of the people." That was not to say, the president acknowledged -- perhaps with a nod towards last week's elections in the United States -- that he always likes what democracy delivers. "Of course, democracy is messy. Not everyone likes the results of every election. You go through ups and downs. But the journey is worthwhile, and it goes beyond casting a ballot." Earlier in the day Mr. Obama visited the Istiqlal mosque a house of worship for Muslims that he noted was designed by a Christian architect. His stepfather was "raised a Muslim," yet President Obama said that he believes that all religions were worthy of respect, similar to Indonesia being defined by more than its Muslim population. "Such is Indonesia's spirit," Obama said, "an archipelago that contains some of God's most beautiful creations, islands rising above an ocean named for peace, people choose to worship God as they please. Islam flourishes, but so do other faiths." Echoing themes to the Muslim world in his Cairo address last year, the president said that his priority since becoming president has been the frayed relations between the Muslim community and the United States. "In the 17 months that have passed we have made some progress, but much more work remains to be done. Innocent civilians in America, Indonesia, and across the world are still targeted by violent extremists. I have made it clear that America is not, and never will be, at war with Islam. Instead, all of us must defeat al Qaeda and its affiliates, who have no claim to be leaders of any religion -- certainly not a great, world religion like Islam. But those who want to build must not cede ground to terrorists who seek to destroy." The president has twice planned to visit Jakarta, both trips postponed due to pressing domestic issue back home. Additionally the president had to cut this visit short too. "We had a couple of false starts this year, but I was determined to visit a country that has meant so much to me. Pantheism - The Forever All This is an introduction video expressing some of the core ideas of my philosophical views. I believe the universe has always been here and always will be, and that all things in the universe are ultimately connected. I believe that the universe is infinite and indestructible. I believe it is balanced and conserved. The title of the music score used in this video is "Titans" by Vangelis, which was used in the motion picture "Alexander" (2004). Below I have provided all the text used in this video: In My Opinion . . . There is the All. The All is everything and every thing is of the All. The All was not created. It has always been here and always will be, like the mathematical construct 1 + 2 = 3 or the 3 sided triangle or the color wheel. These concepts truly have no beginning nor an end. The All is responsible for your existence. Aside from requiring the obvious, such as a brain, a heart, a digestive system, etc., you require all else beyond your apparent body. For instance, you require water to hydrate your body, an atmosphere to hold the water into liquid form, a strong gravitational force to compress gases into such an atmosphere, a planet to provide the gravity and to serve as a platform, a source of heat energy to warm things up. Atoms are needed to form these gases, planets and stars. Space is needed for these objects to occupy, and so on. In short, you require the All, an infinite system, in order to exist. The All is what makes any one thing possible. It constantly sustains you. Each thing, no matter how insignificant it may appear, plays its part in sustaining you. Therefore, since the All is required for you to exist, you should realize . . . You are the All. You are the All trying to perceive itself, trying to understand itself, and trying to know itself. You are the forever cosmic tree, whose branches never end. Yet you are not alone. You are actually in infinite company. I too am the All. So is your neighbor. And so is the smallest house fly. But you are the All from your own special position in time and space, which allows you to forever remain unique. But in a deeper sense, we are all the same. We all have our moments of fear, moments of jealousy, moments of embarrassment, moments of anger, and thankfully . . . moments of pure joy. The All is indestructible, which means you too are, ultimately, indestructible. Your mind will move from one life to the next, forever and ever. However, you will at times forget your true identity. But thankfully, you will at times be reminded by the All who and what you really are. That true version of you that goes far beyond what you may normally see as your local self, and that is The Forever All, An inescapable system of profound order, which will forever remain balanced and conserved; If you are a good student, learn the great lessons it has to teach. If you can read the pages of life, then try to enjoy the epic story it tells. When you truly understand it, you will be in awe of its magnificence. You will marvel at its complexity and perfection. It will be your greatest epiphany. You will truly know it is the ultimate kingdom, and that this kingdom is truly you! The All can never be fully understood, for it is ultimately unknowable. It's like trying to stare too deeply into the light of the Sun to see its core only to be blinded. Though enough evidence of the All is available for us to use our "mind's eye" so-to-speak to understand it well enough without being permanently blinded. At times you will need to glance away from the brilliant light of truth to give your eyes a rest. Instead of staring at it dead on, use the corner of your eyes. It is difficult to discuss the true nature of the All or to describe its true form, for we the perceivers have always experienced it only in part, from a limited point-of-view. It can all be greatly misunderstood, but I will do my best to describe my take on it in future videos. I will at times discuss the All as it is, in its true form, but I will also describe the All through the eyes of the perceiver. Hopefully, you will know one from the other, eventually, if not right away.
