Sometimes I might add notes or leave them away. 3. I don't have sheets for this version. I just recorded it on a keyboard, but it didn't create sheets. I had the same trouble when I was first trying to learn the piece. The reason for this is that Beethoven is playing a rhythmic trick on us; the piece is notated in 3/8 time, but the notes sometimes form 3/8 groups and sometimes form 3/4 groups (or, at the beginning, 2/4). In any case, he could certainly hear it perfectly "in his head," since he could read music (and hear in it his "mind's ear") just as easily as most people can read words. But more recently, YouTube changed this, and now the sound comes through.) Q: What do the colors in the bar-graph score mean? A: The colors indicate the "pitch class" of the notes; that is, every A is a certain color (blue), every B is a certain color (olive green), etc. The piece is in the key of A, so there's lots of blue, especially at the beginning and end. Autumn Leaves - Jazz piano trio Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoDJl3vcpgo for a much improved version in HD and Widescreen. Another experiment - this time, I took a jazz trio midi file that I had previously done, and annotated with text comments. Lots of students learn 'Autumn Leaves' as one of the first standards they play, so I thought that this might be a useful source of ideas. It is in the fake book key, and the chord symbols appear above the music. This was imported into the Band in a Box program - this program will read these text 'markers', and it also has quite a flexible notation view. Note that in the notation view the bass and treble clefs don't accurately reflect the Left and Right hand parts. In addition, for those who can't easily sight read music, there is a very big and clear Piano view. I hope that some students might find this useful. I have produced lots of other jazz midi files at http://www.bushgrafts.com/jazz/midi.htm that can be treated in a similar way. A much better quality video is at http://www.bushgrafts.com/jazz/video.htm along with along with a PDF file of the Transcription and a leadsheet and the midi file if you want to try to do this yourself!
