His body was later found by Captain Archibald Witwicky, and before going into a comatose state Megatron used the last of his energy to engrave a map, showing the location of the Allspark, into the Captain's glasses, and send a transmission to Cybertron. He is then carted away by the Captain's ship. A century later, Sam Witwicky, nicknamed Spike by his friends, buys his first car. To his shock, he discovers it to be Bumblebee, an Autobot in disguise who is to protect Spike, as he bears the Captain's glasses and the map carved on them. But Bumblebee is not the only Transformer to have arrived on Earth - in the desert of Qatar, the Decepticons Blackout and Scorponok attack a U.S. military base, causing the Pentagon to send their special Sector Seven agents to capture all "specimens of this alien race," and Spike and his girlfriend Mikaela find themselves in the middle of a grand battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, stretching from Hoover Dam all the way to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, within the depths of Hoover Dam, the cryogenically stored form of Megatron awakens. Andie's foster mother is tired of the crime and harassment by the 410 and tells Andie she will have to go to live with her aunt in Texas if she doesn't turn her life around. Andie's friend and older brother figure Tyler Gage (Channing Tatum) persuades her to audition for the Maryland School of the Arts, where Andie receives a place. When Andie's studies come before the crew, the members are not happy and decide to drop her. Andie meets Chase Collins (Robert Hoffman). When romantic sparks occur between these two dance students from different backgrounds, influencing Andie to form her own crew to compete. So Andie and Chase forms a new crew with help from many people Chase knew at the school. Director Collins, Chase's older brother, wouldn't allow anyone from the school to be involved in these kinds of illegal competitions. But Chase copied the key to the studio and the crew secretly practiced their routine late at night when the school was empty. Missy, joins the crew after dropping out of the 410 following Andie's removal. Missy told the crew that the only way to enter the streets is to first do a prank and post it on the internet to show that the crew is entering the competition. Wanting revenge from being humiliated before, Chase decides for their prank they were going to make a fool out of Tuck, leader of the 410, and also left a dead fish in the vent of Tuck's home. But the 410 didn't like the fact that they had a new crew to compete with so they warned Andie's new crew to stay out of the Streets or there would be consequences. Eventually Chase and Andie fall in love with each other. But when Tuck found out where Chase was, he assaulted him because of his prank. This left Chase coming into school the next day badly bruised and hurt. On top of that the dance studio was trashed by the 410 late at night and people noticed it when they were in school. Director Collins had no choice but to expel Andie from MSA because of her involvement with the 410 earlier on. When Andie's foster mother heard the news she told Andie that she had enough and that Andie would be going to Texas and that was final. It seemed the crew and Andie's relationship with Chase was coming to an end. When Andie was packing her bags to leave to Texas she received a text message that the Streets was on that night, the same night as the fund raising MSA was hosting. The rest of the crew received the message as well and Chase decided to make a stand for what he believed was right and left the fund raiser to go find Andie, with the rest of the crew following him. When they got Andie, they went to the streets and won the competition. In the end Andie and Chase had their first long romantic kiss with each other and the 410 was defeated after 5 long years. Step Up 2 the Streets the 2008 sequel of the 2006 movie Step Up from Touchstone Pictures. The movie was directed by Jon M. Chu, and choreographed by Jamal Sims, Hi-Hat (Bring It On) and Dave Scott (Stomp the Yard). It chronicles the discovery and spread of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) with a special emphasis on government indifference and political infighting—specifically in the United States—to what was initially perceived as a gay disease. Shilts' premise is that while AIDS is caused by a biological agent, incompetence and apathy toward those who were initially affected by AIDS allowed the spread of the disease to become much worse; AIDS was allowed to happen. The book is an extensive work of investigative journalism, written in the form of an encompassing time line; the events that shaped the epidemic are presented as sequential matter-of-fact summaries. Shilts describes the impact and the politics involved in battling the disease on particular individuals in the gay, medical, and political communities. The book begins its discussion in the late 1970s with the then-first confirmed case of AIDS, that of Grethe Rask, a Danish doctor working in Africa. It ends with the announcement by actor Rock Hudson in 1985 that he was dying of AIDS, when international attention on the disease exploded. And the Band Played On was critically acclaimed and became a best-seller. Judith Eannarino of the Library Journal called it 'one of the most important books of the year', upon its release. It made Shilts both a star and a pariah for his coverage of the disease and the bitter politics in the gay community. He described his motivation to undertake the writing of the book in an interview after its release, saying, 'Any good reporter could have done this story, but I think the reason I did it, and no one else did, is because I am gay. It was happening to people I cared about and loved.' The book was adapted into an HBO docudrama of the same name in 1993. Shilts was tested for HIV while he was writing the book; he died of complications from AIDS in 1994. To me, that summed up the whole problem of dealing with AIDS in the media. Obviously, the reason I covered AIDS from the start was that. . . it was never something that happened to those other people. —Randy Shilts in 1983Randy Shilts grew up in a conservative household near Chicago, Illinois and was active in Young Americans for Freedom in high school. He earned a journalism degree at the University of Oregon in 1975, where he also came out of the closet as gay. Shilts was determined to live openly about his sexuality, but was unable to find steady work as a reporter due to what he believed was homophobia in the media. He worked as a freelance reporter for the gay magazine The Advocate before becoming one of thousands of gay men moving to San Francisco's Castro District. In a 1989 interview, Shilts recalled his anger as he was trying to get established as a reporter: 'At the beginning I was angry at this big, nebulous 'them'—all the places where I couldn't get work. My anger became more specific as time went on.'Shilts worked for two Bay Area television stations from 1977 to 1980, becoming somewhat of a star in the Castro neighborhood. With writer Armistead Maupin, Shilts was voted one of San Francisco's most eligible bachelors in the gay community. He published a highly acclaimed biography of San Francisco politician Harvey Milk in 1982 titled The Mayor of Castro Street, and began working full time with the San Francisco Chronicle reporting on gay issues in a city where 25% of the population was gay. Shilts had closely followed the story of the epidemic almost since its North American outbreak covering the response and reaction of government agencies, local support organizations, medical researchers as well as individuals personally impacted by the growing crisis.
