How to Solve a Rubik's Cube - Step 2 - Bottom White Corners By RobH0629 Link to Step 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTPOqm... Do you NOT see the upside down T's? Other Problems? Then Watch this clarification video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zg5lKh... You must look on the top layer for corners which have a white color on the side (not top or bottom faces). Once you have found (or corrected using the R T180 Ri), you must match the other adjacent color to white (not on top again, but on the side) with its corresponding color diagonally. Now hold the center of the color that you just matched the white corner diagonally with and the white sticker should either be on the left or right face. Then you must perform the following moves: If white facing left, do Li Ti L (Li = left quarter turn counter-clockwise, L = left quarter turn clockwise), If white facing right, do R T Ri. You must do this for all four corners. IMPORTANT: When fixing corner pieces which have white facing UP,you must place it above the last empty corner space on bottom before doing the R T180 Ri or Li T180 L moves. IMPORTANT: you should NEVER be looking at the white color when you are placing it down, you should always be holding the center piece of the other color on the side with white while placing the corner piece. After you have placed all 4 BOTTOM WHITE CORNERS, you should see upside down COLOR T's on the 4 sides of the cube (not top or bottom). If you do NOT have these T's, that means you DID NOT match the corner pieces properly with its side color BEFORE using the 3 moves (up, towards you, down). Match the color on the ADJACENT SIDE of WHITE with its respective center. Then, while holding that center towards you, you must see whether the corner piece is now on the LEFT or RIGHT of that center piece. If on RIGHT, do R T Ri. If on LEFT, do the Li Ti L move. Watch the video for demonstration. ATTENTION: I WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO LET ME KNOW WHETHER THEY WERE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THIS STEP, SINCE IT IS A LITTLE TRICKY. I WAS THINKING OF POSTING AN ADDITIONAL VIDEO, SO PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK AND COMMENTS OR SEND ME A MESSAGE TO MY INBOX LETTING ME KNOW WHETHER AN ADDITIONAL VIDEO WOULD HELP YOU OUT. How to Solve a 5x5x5 Rubik's Cube - Part 4 - Parity Errors By RobH0629 Looking to see how to solve the bigger Cubes as a 3x3? Click THIS LINK to see my Video Explaining it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hp1afu... Unsure of how to solve a 3x3 Rubik's Cube? Check out my 3x3 Tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yU-Ew... Goes over the 3 main types of parity errors you will encounter while pairing edge pieces on the 5x5 cube, the single edge flip, the edge swap, and checkerboard patterns. You will only need to know two algorithms in order to correct the parity errors, and you should already know the first one since it is also used to solve the 4x4 parity error. The first parity case I go over is one where we have one middle edge piece which is flipped. The algorithm I give you does not actually flip that single middle edge piece alone, but flips the two outer edge pieces over so they are the same orientation as the middle piece. The algorithm we use to correct this is the same algorithm we used in the 4x4 Tutorial for fixing the PLL parity error which occurred when solving the top cross. It is: (Rr)2 B2 U2 (Ll) U2 (Rr)' U2 (Rr) U2 F2 (Rr) F2 (Ll)' B2 (Rr)2 ________________________________________ The second type of parity case is one where we have two outer/wing edge pieces which have switched places. That algorithm we will be using is: (Ll)' U2 (Ll)' U2 F2 (Ll)' F2 (Rr) U2 (Rr)' U2 (Ll)2 ________________________________________ The third type of parity error is basically a mix of the first two errors we see and can be solved using both the above algorithms, and also an algorithm used to solve the 4x4 edge parity. HOWEVER, to keep to the simplicity of only having to memorize ONE additional algorithm and because this is a RARE case, we are only going to use the 2nd algorithm, which I call the "Edge Switcher". You can see the full set of algorithms at http://www.bigcubes.com/5x5x5/lastedg... Once you have fixed all parity errors, you will then find that you can solve the 5x5 cube EXACTLY like a 3x3. What does that mean? It means that the 3x3 center block is identical to the 3x3 cube center. Each 3x1 tredge piece is identical to ONE 3x3 cube edge pieces. Knowing that, you can go on to do the cross, place the middle edge pieces, and complete the top layer. If you would like a demonstration, I solve the 4x4 exactly like a 3x3 in my "How to Solve a 4x4 Rubik's Cube - Step 3 - Parity Errors" video on my channel playlist for the 4x4 cube. You can fast forward to 1:00 and watch from there for the demonstration. If you can solve a 4x4 cube like a 3x3, however, then you should have little to no difficulty in solving the 5x5 either. There are also NO LAST LAYER Parity errors to worry about when solving the 5x5 cube as a 3x3. It is ready to go! Hope you found this tutorial helpful! As always please leave comments and/or questions if you have them and rate the video if you enjoy. Thanks for watching! How to Solve a Rubik's Cube - Step 1 - White Cross By RobH0629 In my tutorial, I will teach you how to solve a Rubik's Cube (regular 3x3)using 7 steps, which I explain in detail. My videos are longer than others you may find, but I feel that by spending more time with you for each step, you will understand it better than if I rush through it like those other videos. Although my videos are longer, it will pay off in the shorter amount of time you spend solving your cube. Other methods tend to use repetitive moves, not letting you understand how the cube works very well and wasting too much time and too many moves. I taught quite a few people this method in college, and also family members and friends who were able to solve it relatively quickly once they understood the method. Once you have memorized the algorithms and also understand the method I use, you can solve the cube in ABOUT 1-2 MINUTES WITH PRACTICE. Go here to see my Rubiks.com page with links to ALL my tutorials!! http://www.rubiks.com/Academy/3x3%204... This is the first step of the Tutorial for solving the cube. THE SECOND STEP IS ON MY CHANNEL PLAYLIST AND ALSO IN THE VIDEO RESPONSES SECTION OF THIS VIDEO. Link for Step 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOkcgD... Check out this video of a 7 YEAR OLD who solved the cube in under 3 minutes using my tutorial! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6dEUb... It involves first placing four white edge pieces around the yellow center piece. You must then match each individual edge piece with its side color and flip it until it is matched with both the white and side colors. *If you are HAVING DIFFICULTY getting the four white edge pieces around the yellow center, please SEE MY Step 1 b video, which gives further examples which should prove to be useful and give extra help. Also, please do not ever hesitate to ask me ANY questions at all about the cube or if you have any comments or problems. I am ALWAYS glad to help. If you are using this method, I can GUARANTEE that I can explain and help you with anything you need to know as long as you provide me the information about your cube. Send long questions to my inbox and I will try to get back to you A.S.A.P. THANK YOU FOR WATCHING! I would like to thank Lars Petrus and also Tyson Mao along with Jessica Fridrich for allowing me to visualize the cube in a totally new way. My method basically incorporates strategies and techniques in both Tyson Mao's and also Lars Petrus' methods, making my method unique in itself. My method has been able to help numerous people solve their cubes, along with some family members and personal friends of mine, so I know it can work for you too! Any questions, please don't hesitate to inquire or leave comments on any steps which may have given you trouble. How to Solve a Rubik's Cube - Step 5 - Complete Top Face By RobH0629 Link to Step 6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywae7J... This step involves going from the yellow cross on top to a completed yellow solid color on the top face. It requires that you position the cube in SPECIFIC ways (please refer to positioning the cube below) before performing the given algorithm: R T Ri T R T180 Ri Official/Standard Notation: R U Ri U R U2 Ri **Memorization Tip** - The algorithm is pretty much R and T repeated. I like to make a sentence out of the algorithms and say them aloud while I perform them. The sentence for this algorithm could be "Right Top Right... Top right... Top Top Right" (pauses included when you say it). Positioning the Cube: a) If you have NO (0)yellow corner piece(s) next to the yellow cross on the top face, you are to rotate the entire cube until there is a yellow corner piece on the UPPER RIGHT CORNER of the LEFT FACE. b) If you have ONE (1) yellow corner piece next to the yellow cross on the top face, you are to rotate the entire cube until THAT piece on is in the BOTTOM LEFT CORNER OF THE TOP FACE. c) If you have TWO (2) yellow corner pieces next to the yellow cross on the top face (does not matter which corners), you are to rotate the entire cube until there is a yellow corner piece on the UPPER LEFT CORNER of the FRONT FACE. d)**IF you have 3 (THREE) corner pieces next to the cross, then YOU MUST HAVE AT ONE POINT EITHER TAKEN THE CUBE APART OR A PIECE(S) POPPED OUT AND YOU ACCIDENTALLY PUT IT BACK INCORRECTLY OR POSSIBLY MOVED STICKERS ON THE CUBE. This is NOT a case that EVER happens when solving a normal or brand new cube, I can guarantee you that. I have solved the cube hundreds if not thousands of times and have never came across that case unless I physically flip the corner myself. You can see all 41 possibilities at http://www.ws.binghamton.edu/fridrich... and you will not see such a case. IF YOU HAVE THIS CASE, then the only thing you can do is to manually fix the 4th piece, which is not matched with the others. AGAIN... the only normal cases are either 0, 1, 2, or 4 corner pieces next to the cross!! ********SO IF YOU HAVE 3 CORNER PIECES next to the YELLOW cross, you must physically POP OUT that corner piece and FLIP it so that YELLOW is on TOP (with the other 3). Otherwise, you will not be able to solve the cube completely.*********** *NOTE*: You will most likely have to perform this algorithm a few times. YOU MUST rotate the cube after EACH TIME you perform the algorithm depending on how many top YELLOW CORNER pieces are next to the CROSS. If you just keep it positioned the same way, it will take more steps to finish the top face OR it will NOT finish the top face at all... So please watch the ENTIRE video and the procedure I go over to position the cube.
