De Russische staat heeft nog wel een meerderheidsbelang (51% van de aandelen). In 2000 werd de naam veranderd in Aeroflot - Russian Airlines. In oktober 2006 werd een dochter Aeroflot Cargo opgericht voor het vervoer van luchtvracht. The skyscraper will be 612 meters (2,008 feet) tall and is designed by well-known British architect Norman Foster. It will be the second tallest building in the world, after the Burj Dubai. Additionally, it will be the tallest building in the world with a natural ventilation system. Federation Tower is a skyscraper currently under construction as part of the Moscow International Business Center.
