According to Dr Marcos Pelegrini, a doctor working in the Yanomami Tribe Health Care District, 98 children were killed by their mothers in 2004 alone. Campaigners say that the true figure is obscured by officials who often record cases of infanticide as simple malnutrition. The early King Diamond material was a continuation of the Mercyful Fate sound, perhaps a bit more vocal-oriented and a bit less thrashy. Additionally, the satanic lyrics (one of the main reasons why MF split up) were considerably toned down, and now King delves into horror stories for lyrical inspiration. In my opinion, the band's best two albums are Them and Abigail, though all of the albums are of consistently good quality. Eventually Mercyful Fate reformed, and King has been touring and recording with both bands for some time now. The newest KD album, released in October 2003, is The Puppet Master."
