Pentatonic Improvisation - jazz piano solo This is a companion to the Ionic in C video. I played and recorded them back to back as a single take. It is a spontaneous improvisation, with no forethought given to the structure of it. Here I try to simplify my playing to something just above minimalism. The pentatonic scale helps to do this by not allowing fully stated jazz chords. Traditional chords have to be implied in a pentatonic form. Sometimes when I am playing, I strive for complex chords and voicings. Other times I will try to take as much out as possible and see if what is left is still musical. It's a nice exercise. I use Gb pentatonic, because it shows up well on video, but it is worth doing in all keys. I hope you enjoy it. I am using the Synthogy Ivory Italian Grand patch in Logic. Digital Keyboard is by www.Midikeyz.com and is a great little program! I use a Yamaha CP300 as the keyboard controller. El tono MI es probablemente el más utilizado por los guitarristas, junto con el LA. En la posición de MI, la mitad de las notas de la escala pentatónica se tocan al aire, lo que permite hacer fraseos o "licks" rápidos de forma sencilla, usando ligados entre las cuerdas pulsadas y las cuerdas al aire. La primera parte es la pentatónica de MI, haciendo los ligados de los que hablo. Practícala de forma ascendente y descendente. A continuación van dos licks típicos. En el primero de ellos hay una técnica nueva, que no habíamos visto hasta ahora, y que consiste en arrastrar la nota, después de haberla pulsado. El segundo lick te puede sonara al "back in black" de ACDC... Finalmente un ejemplo de blues en el tono MI, usando los acordes de MI, LA y Si7, (jugando con las séptimas en los acordes de MI y LA), e intercalando los licks vistos. No me gusta el blues.
