By okrimopina http://okrimopina.blogspot.com Hace poco menos de un mes, conversando sobre uno de mis temas favoritos (los medios de comunicación en Venezuela) dos personas diferentes -Fran y Natty, a quienes agradezco la inspiración- me comentaron que la situación les recordaba a la famosa transmisión radiofónica de "La Guerra de los Mundos" que hizo Orson Welles en 1938. Para los que no recuerden de qué se trata, en la noche de Halloween de ese año, el todavía desconocido Orson Welles radió una dramatización de la novela de H.G. Wells, "La Guerra de los Mundos", en la que los marcianos invaden el planeta Tierra. Orson Welles, pícaro por no decir otra cosa, apenas advirtió un par de veces en la larga transmisión que se trataba de una ficción. Muchos de los oyentes creyeron que realmente los marcianos estaban invadiendo el país, y se lanzaron a las calles aterrorizados. Los hay que abandonaron a sus familias, o corrieron a las colinas cercanas, las líneas telefónicas y los servicios de emergencia colapsaron, etc. No hubo desgracias mayores de casualidad, y el 'travieso' Orson Welles pidió perdón por las molestias que hubiera podido causar (aunque se salió con la suya y relativamente poco tiempo después consiguió financiación para su obra maestra, "Ciudadano Kane", que era lo que se proponía realmente). Nunca antes los medios de comunicación habían demostrado tanto poder. Los paralelismos con Venezuela, donde ese extraordinario poder es bien visible, son obvios. ¿Gente manipulada que comete locuras o pierde toda capacidad de raciocinio porque "lo dijeron en la tele"? Hemos visto eso más de una vez en el país, y lo seguimos viendo. Pero más que en las coincidencias, yo me fijé en las diferencias entre Orson Welles y las televisoras privadas. Los invito a conocerlas en este video de sólo tres minutos, donde la información está altamente condensada y proyectada a toda velocidad. Hay que estar atentos. Que lo disfruten.
