Copyright IMRO/ PRS/ MCPS lawrencejohnproject@gmail.com This is a Nashville production, of a song I wrote the night after George died in November 2005. I was walking my dog, around midnight and found myself singing oh "Georgie Boy", to the tune of "Danny Boy". I'm not sure if I was actually singing it out loud, or just hearing it in my head, but remembering that Danny Boy, had been played at some Northern Ireland International football matches, I thought this might be an appropriate melody for a tribute song to George and so rushed home and put pen to paper. What followed was a heartfelt tribute to George, written through a constant stream of tears. (we're a sentimental lot us Irish) I was surprised though, how quickly the whole song came together, It only took about 20 minutes, as I decided after just a verse and chorus that nothing further need be said. I thought at that point, I had managed to sum up quite succinctly, what I and countless other fans the world over, must have been feeling and saying about George on hearing the sad news of his death. George had been a guest on a chat show I had hosted 10 years earlier and I never forgot, that after he missed his plane to Belfast on the day of the show, he caught a later flight and paid for the ticket out of his own pocket, refusing reimbursement, saying it was HIS fault he missed the plane. (he was probably chatting up another Miss World at the time) Before Georgie Boy, I had only toyed with songwriting, but had been producing records for a couple of years and had a recording studio booked for just a couple of days after George's death, coincidently to produce an uptempo dance remix of "You Raise Me Up", a song which was not only based around the uplifting part of "Danny Boy", but which would be sung at George's funeral. Georgie Boy, was played by a number of local radio stations in the run up to George's funeral, but it was naturally eclipsed by the beautiful and hugely successful tribute songs, by Brian Kennedy and Peter Corry, You Raise Me Up and Bring Him Home. I didn't write the song for monetary gain, I wrote it simply as a personal tribute to a great sportsman, but I liked the finished song so much, I decided to release it for the benefit of the newly founded charity, The George Best Foundation. Despite being totally eclipsed by the aforementioned tributes, the song still managed to make £1,000 profit, which I donated to the Foundation. My original production, sung by Thomas Gillespie and featuring some string players from the Ulster Orchestra, seemed to capture the sombre mood in the days after George's death and leading up to his state funeral, but over the following few years, I began to feel it was a little too sombre. So, as I have always been proud of the song, I thought I would rearrange it in a lighter more wistful mood and bring it into the main catalogue of songs I have written and produced in Nashville in the last few years. While still sad and emotional, it's just a little brighter than my original production. I hope you like it and if so, you can purchase the song on download from all major download sites. It is common knowledge that the Classical Age was followed by many centuries of utter stagnation and decline with virtually nothing happening but wars and famine and the destruction of the priceless ancient monuments. Then, during the Renaissance, the Classical authors re-appear from oblivion, Latin and Greek become resurrected as the intelligentsia Esperanto of the Middle Ages, numerous manuscripts re-appear from oblivion to be copied, enter wide circulation, and vanish again, never to be found. How preposterous would it be to suggest that there were no Dark Ages to separate the antiquity from the Renaissance - that the "Re-naissance" was in fact the naissance of the Western European culture as we know it? It does contradict everything that we may ever have learnt about history. However, new methods offered by empirical statistics and developed by Anatoly Fomenko, the Russian mathematician, and his colleagues, provide plenty of evidence to support the theory that the Dark Ages are a phantom. We find lots of spicy morsels in the cauldron of history, and some of them are impossible to digest without soothing explanations that all the contradictions we encounter are to be blamed on the ignorance of the scribes or some such phenomena inherent in the murky past - fancy the statue of Marcus Aurelius lost for several centuries and then found "by accident" on one of the Roman streets, or Senators congregating amongst the ruins of the Capitol due to their being "nostalgic about the great imperial past of the Empire", or the pagan temples turning Christian at the wink of an eye, with the name of the saint coinciding with the name of the pagan deities that these very temples were consecrated to in the mysterious "days of yore"? How many historical documents are counterfeit? We shall never know just how many historical documents are in fact counterfeit. History in general goes hand in hand with the history of forgeries; countless chronicles as well as works of art and literature have been considered authentic for centuries before becoming denounced as counterfeit. A presumed fragment of Cicero's "De Consolatione" discovered by the famous humanist scholar Sigonius only became identified as a work of the latter two centuries after the death of the author -- we would probably still believe in Cicero's authorship of said fragment if it hadn't been for the discovery of Sigonius' written confession. Similar examples are rather abundant -- the "Thespian poet Lucius Varus" who turned out to be a 18th century Dutch scientist by the name of Heerkens plagiarizing from the 16th century Venetian author Corrario, the German "translation" of a Phoenician history tractate by a student named Wagenfeld in the 19th century, "classical" texts sold to the Leipzig library by a certain Schennis in the 1920's and so forth. Think of just how many remain undiscovered -- after all, the larger part of the iceberg always remains underwater. However, there may be an equal amount of valid historical documents in existence that were declared forgeries due to their being at odds with the official history. Anatoly Fomenko, the prominent mathematician, was the first to apply natural scientific methods to historical data, coming up with a revolutionary theory which implies a radical revision of history as we know it. This theory finally explains such historical oddities as the existence of Christian tabernacles in the pagan town of Pompeii and the Ottoman Turks referred to as "Persians" in mediaeval documents. It is rendered in Fomenko's fundamental work entitled: "History: Fiction or Science" which is finally out in English. "Sensational" is a very mild term -- this book is heretical, controversial and clearly subversive -- but even the most uncanny ideas it contains are all backed up by statistics, astronomy, and brilliant logic. Fomenko's book may infuriate you since it contradicts everything you were taught in school, but once you're through with it, your view of history shall never be the same again! Copyright IMRO/ PRS/ MCPS lawrencejohnproject@gmail.com This is a Nashville production, of a song I wrote the night after George died in November 2005. I was walking my dog, around midnight and found myself singing oh "Georgie Boy", to the tune of "Danny Boy". I'm not sure if I was actually singing it out loud, or just hearing it in my head, but remembering that Danny Boy, had been played at some Northern Ireland International football matches, I thought this might be an appropriate melody for a tribute song to George and so rushed home and put pen to paper. What followed was a heartfelt tribute to George, written through a constant stream of tears. (we're a sentimental lot us Irish) I was surprised though, how quickly the whole song came together, It only took about 20 minutes, as I decided after just a verse and chorus that nothing further need be said. I thought at that point, I had managed to sum up quite succinctly, what I and countless other fans the world over, must have been feeling and saying about George on hearing the sad news of his death. George had been a guest on a chat show I had hosted 10 years earlier and I never forgot, that after he missed his plane to Belfast on the day of the show, he caught a later flight and paid for the ticket out of his own pocket, refusing reimbursement, saying it was HIS fault he missed the plane. (he was probably chatting up another Miss World at the time) Before Georgie Boy, I had only toyed with songwriting, but had been producing records for a couple of years and had a recording studio booked for just a couple of days after George's death, coincidently to produce an uptempo dance remix of "You Raise Me Up", a song which was not only based around the uplifting part of "Danny Boy", but which would be sung at George's funeral. Georgie Boy, was played by a number of local radio stations in the run up to George's funeral, but it was naturally eclipsed by the beautiful and hugely successful tribute songs, by Brian Kennedy and Peter Corry, You Raise Me Up and Bring Him Home. I didn't write the song for monetary gain, I wrote it simply as a personal tribute to a great sportsman, but I liked the finished song so much, I decided to release it for the benefit of the newly founded charity, The George Best Foundation. Despite being totally eclipsed by the aforementioned tributes, the song still managed to make £1,000 profit, which I donated to the Foundation. My original production, sung by Thomas Gillespie and featuring some string players from the Ulster Orchestra, seemed to capture the sombre mood in the days after George's death and leading up to his state funeral, but over the following few years, I began to feel it was a little too sombre. So, as I have always been proud of the song, I thought I would rearrange it in a lighter more wistful mood and bring it into the main catalogue of songs I have written and produced in Nashville in the last few years. While still sad and emotional, it's just a little brighter than my original production. I hope you like it and if so, you can purchase the song on download from all major download sites. [View \| Download]	Who, why and when has invented a Dark Age? Has history been tampered with? It is common knowledge that the Classical Age was followed by many centuries of utter stagnation and decline with virtually nothing happening but wars and famine and the destruction of the priceless ancient monuments. CLICK ON AMAZON LINK! Then, during the Renaissance, the Classical authors re-appear from oblivion, Latin and Greek become resurrected as the intelligentsia Esperanto of the Middle Ages, numerous manuscripts re-appear from oblivion to be copied, enter wide circulation, and vanish again, never to be found. How preposterous would it be to suggest that there were no Dark Ages to separate the antiquity from the Renaissance - that the "Re-naissance" was in fact the naissance of the Western European culture as we know it? It does contradict everything that we may ever have learnt about history. However, new methods offered by empirical statistics and developed by Anatoly Fomenko, the Russian mathematician, and his colleagues, provide plenty of evidence to support the theory that the Dark Ages are a phantom. We find lots of spicy morsels in the cauldron of history, and some of them are impossible to digest without soothing explanations that all the contradictions we encounter are to be blamed on the ignorance of the scribes or some such phenomena inherent in the murky past - fancy the statue of Marcus Aurelius lost for several centuries and then found "by accident" on one of the Roman streets, or Senators congregating amongst the ruins of the Capitol due to their being "nostalgic about the great imperial past of the Empire", or the pagan temples turning Christian at the wink of an eye, with the name of the saint coinciding with the name of the pagan deities that these very temples were consecrated to in the mysterious "days of yore"? How many historical documents are counterfeit? We shall never know just how many historical documents are in fact counterfeit. History in general goes hand in hand with the history of forgeries; countless chronicles as well as works of art and literature have been considered authentic for centuries before becoming denounced as counterfeit. A presumed fragment of Cicero's "De Consolatione" discovered by the famous humanist scholar Sigonius only became identified as a work of the latter two centuries after the death of the author -- we would probably still believe in Cicero's authorship of said fragment if it hadn't been for the discovery of Sigonius' written confession. Similar examples are rather abundant -- the "Thespian poet Lucius Varus" who turned out to be a 18th century Dutch scientist by the name of Heerkens plagiarizing from the 16th century Venetian author Corrario, the German "translation" of a Phoenician history tractate by a student named Wagenfeld in the 19th century, "classical" texts sold to the Leipzig library by a certain Schennis in the 1920's and so forth. Think of just how many remain undiscovered -- after all, the larger part of the iceberg always remains underwater. However, there may be an equal amount of valid historical documents in existence that were declared forgeries due to their being at odds with the official history. Anatoly Fomenko, the prominent mathematician, was the first to apply natural scientific methods to historical data, coming up with a revolutionary theory which implies a radical revision of history as we know it. This theory finally explains such historical oddities as the existence of Christian tabernacles in the pagan town of Pompeii and the Ottoman Turks referred to as "Persians" in mediaeval documents. It is rendered in Fomenko's fundamental work entitled: "History: Fiction or Science" which is finally out in English. "Sensational" is a very mild term -- this book is heretical, controversial and clearly subversive -- but even the most uncanny ideas it contains are all backed up by statistics, astronomy, and brilliant logic. Fomenko's book may infuriate you since it contradicts everything you were taught in school, but once you're through with it, your view of history shall never be the same again! Se observar pelo tempo que foi lançado, o Redescobrimento do Brasil é o disco que traz o primeiro reggae gravado no país! E isso foi em 80, 81... Esse reggae se chama A Carta de Pero Vaz de Caminha, que foi a carta original que eu musiquei. Eu me lembro que quando terminei, o arranjador do disco, Lincoln Olivetti, chamou Robson Jorge, um dos maiores guitarristas que já conheci e falou assim: Bicho, olha só o que o Arnaud sacou! Isso aí é o tal do regueie. (risos). Coisa que eles nem sabiam como era.'' E ainda acrescenta: ''Era uma coisa que estava aparecendo na América Central. O público tava começando a ver aparecer as coisas de Bob Marley. E aí eu fiz esse reggae e ficou ali documentado. Se você pegar a data do surgimento do movimento reggae no Brasil e ver a data do disco, vai ver que p*** que pariu, é isso mesmo! Arnaud Rodrigues é também creditado como um dos precursores do rap nacional. Arnaud Rodrigues is also credited as one of the pioneers of national RAP. He created the music called "Melô do Tagarela", which was released as a single by RCA in 1979 and sung and spoken by Luiz Carlos Miele, based on a musical base from Rappers Delight, the American group Sugarhill Gang. Arnaud Rodrigues was a complete artist, having rescued the best of their influences, such as "Samba de Breque", Northern Soul, Blues, Folk, Rock, between many others, and worked in a genial and especially unique way.
