O sinal verde foi dado para Cingapura sediar a primeira corrida noturna depois que a Federação Internacional de Automobilismo (FIA) reconheceu que o projeto da Valerio Maioli atendia aos rígidos critérios de segurança. A Philips contribuiu com esse projeto ao trabalhar com a consultoria italiana para desenvolver um refletor dedicado às corridas de F1. A solução foi escolhida por Maioli porque reproduz condições de iluminação semelhantes às diurnas à noite, o que proporciona um ambiente seguro para os pilotos na pista, mesmo em velocidades superiores aos 300 km/h. O sistema de iluminação, desenvolvido pelos engenheiros da Valerio Maioli, evita o reflexo ao projetar os feixes de luz em ângulos diferentes, e não verticalmente. Assim, os pilotos não serão atrapalhados pelo reflexo, mesmo dias de chuva. O circuito de rua Marina Bay, em Cingapura, tem aproximadamente 1.500 refletores, que iluminam a pista de 5,067 km com uma luz quatro vezes mais clara do que um estádio de futebol à noite. Como o traçado é de um circuito de rua, o sistema de iluminação é temporário. A altura da iluminação varia para acomodar as árvores ao longo das ruas. As luzes também foram colocadas deliberadamente mais baixas que as coberturas, e não irão interferir nos serviços de utilidade pública que passam pelo subsolo como, por exemplo, tubulações de água e gás e cabos de eletricidade. Segundo a Philips, a iluminação será instalada em apenas um lado (e não em ambos os lados da pista) a 10 metros do chão, quase 1.500 refletores serão utilizados a 4 metros de distância um do outro, torres serão colocadas a 32 metros uma da outra e darão suporte a uma armação em alumínio ao longo da pista. Essa armação suporta os refletores, os cabos de energia e óticos, os alto-falantes, as câmeras da CCTV e a publicidade. O sistema gera 3.000 lux de luz (intensidade de iluminação), em comparação com os 800 lux de um estádio de futebol e 30 lux da iluminação pública. À noite, as luzes são quatro vezes mais fortes do que em um estádio convencional. By the expression on his face, it's obvious ol' Hank has figured out that we have no idea what we're doin'. He knows we're just a bunch of yahoos with a fast car. He takes a good long look at the big winged Viper, then he shuts off the truck's engine so we can hear him better. "When you're going fast, the slightest gust of wind can flip you," he says. "That's why we only ran early in the morning when the air was calm." We look up at the mid-afternoon sun and wonder what we've gotten ourselves into. "And make sure you don't run out of room," he continues. "You think you have all the space in the world, then Floating Mountain is suddenly right in your face. I remember when I went for 300 mph back in 1978; my chutes didn't open and I almost didn't get her stopped." He runs his fingers through a white beard. "Didn't make 300 either," he adds. "Only 280." Great. We thought this Bonneville thing was as easy as holding our foot down until the speedometer stopped moving. [View \| Download]	Philips ilumina 1ª corrida noturna de Formula 1 em Cingapura Philips ilumina 1ª corrida noturna de Formula 1 A Philips anunciou que seus projetores foram os escolhidos pela Valerio Maioli S.p.A., empresa de consultoria italiana indicada pela Singapore GP Pte Ltd., para a iluminação da primeira corrida noturna de todos os tempos da Fórmula 1 no dia 28 de setembro de 2008 em Cingapura. O sinal verde foi dado para Cingapura sediar a primeira corrida noturna depois que a Federação Internacional de Automobilismo (FIA) reconheceu que o projeto da Valerio Maioli atendia aos rígidos critérios de segurança. A Philips contribuiu com esse projeto ao trabalhar com a consultoria italiana para desenvolver um refletor dedicado às corridas de F1. A solução foi escolhida por Maioli porque reproduz condições de iluminação semelhantes às diurnas à noite, o que proporciona um ambiente seguro para os pilotos na pista, mesmo em velocidades superiores aos 300 km/h. O sistema de iluminação, desenvolvido pelos engenheiros da Valerio Maioli, evita o reflexo ao projetar os feixes de luz em ângulos diferentes, e não verticalmente. Assim, os pilotos não serão atrapalhados pelo reflexo, mesmo dias de chuva. Da mesma forma com que oferece condições de segurança para os pilotos, os refletores da Philips Iluminação foram projetados para que os espectadores no circuito e os que estiverem assistindo à corrida pela TV tenham uma experiência agradável, atendendo aos padrões da transmissão em HDTV (TV de alta definição). À frente do projeto da corrida noturna, o CEO da F1, Bernie Ecclestone, indicou Valerio Maioli para desenvolver um sistema de iluminação para as corridas da F1 em março de 2007. Depois de muitos testes feitos em toda a Europa, envolvendo profissionais da F1 como, por exemplo, o na época piloto de testes da Renault Nelson Piquet Jr., Maioli enviou seu projeto à Comissão de Segurança da FIA. A respeito do projeto, Maioli disse: "para que as corridas noturnas fossem aprovadas pela FIA, era essencial que a solução apresentada por mim atendesse a exigências rígidas de segurança, bem como proporcionasse a melhor experiência possível a pilotos, espectadores e telespectadores. O legado da Philips em arenas esportivas fez dela uma opção natural." Já o CEO do setor de Iluminação da Philips, Rudy Provoost, afirmou que "Muitos sonham em ser um piloto de corrida, e estamos muito felizes por estarmos envolvidos no desenvolvimento de soluções inovadoras em iluminação capazes de aumentar a diversão das pessoas com esse esporte emocionante. Estamos muito contentes por cooperarmos com a Valerio Maioli na primeira etapa noturna da Fórmula 1 usando a nossa solução em iluminação, que não apenas aumenta a visibilidade do esporte, mas também o torna mais seguro e até mesmo mais emocionante." O circuito de rua Marina Bay, em Cingapura, tem aproximadamente 1.500 refletores, que iluminam a pista de 5,067 km com uma luz quatro vezes mais clara do que um estádio de futebol à noite. Como o traçado é de um circuito de rua, o sistema de iluminação é temporário. A altura da iluminação varia para acomodar as árvores ao longo das ruas. As luzes também foram colocadas deliberadamente mais baixas que as coberturas, e não irão interferir nos serviços de utilidade pública que passam pelo subsolo como, por exemplo, tubulações de água e gás e cabos de eletricidade. Segundo a Philips, a iluminação será instalada em apenas um lado (e não em ambos os lados da pista) a 10 metros do chão, quase 1.500 refletores serão utilizados a 4 metros de distância um do outro, torres serão colocadas a 32 metros uma da outra e darão suporte a uma armação em alumínio ao longo da pista. Essa armação suporta os refletores, os cabos de energia e óticos, os alto-falantes, as câmeras da CCTV e a publicidade. O sistema gera 3.000 lux de luz (intensidade de iluminação), em comparação com os 800 lux de um estádio de futebol e 30 lux da iluminação pública. À noite, as luzes são quatro vezes mais fortes do que em um estádio convencional.
