Roja Roja revolves around Rishi Kumar's (Arvind Swamy) love for his motherland. An eminent cryptologist, he goes to a village in Tirunelveli district for his matrimony, but the girl declares her love to someone else. Strangely, Rishi requests her sister Roja's (Madhubala) hand in marriage. Both get married and live in the city. Working for the Indian government, Rishi is assigned a posting at an army communications center in Kashmir. Roja and Rishi lead a loving, romantic life. Roja's world is shattered when Rishi is abducted by militant Kashmiri separatists who demand the release of their terrorist leader Wasim Khan from prison, held by Indian military forces. Roja pleads with politicians and the military for help, but she has little success.
