Und dieser platte Satz wird nur dann zu einer förmlich sprudelnden Quelle von Formen, Figuren, und Bezügen werden, die neue Kombinationen und Entdeckungen ermöglichen, wenn ich von seinem Sinn meine Gefühle, Sinne und meine Vorstellungskraft reizen lasse, das heißt: wenn ich in Bildern denke, in meinen mir eigentümlichen geistigen Kombinationen. Diese gilt es in Wörter und in Worte zu kleiden, wenn einer nicht bloß mit dem anderen reden, sondern ihn ansprechen will." You may receive a sedative by mouth and an intravenous line may be put in. You will then be transferred to the operating table. In the operating room, a nurse will begin preparation by clipping or shaving the abdomen. The anesthesiologist will begin to administer anesthesia - most probably general anesthesia. Patient Education The surgeon will then apply an antiseptic solution to the skin... place a sterile drape around the operative site... After allowing a few minutes for the anesthetic to take effect... Your doctor will decide whether to make a vertical... or horizontal incision. An incision is made cutting through the skin and muscle of the abdomen. Next, the surgeon will inspect the general condition of the abdominal organs. Once the ovaries are exposed the uterus can then be separated from the bladder. Next, the fallopian tubes are tied off and cut. All arteries and veins connected to the uterus are tied off and cut as well. Now the uterus can be pulled upward. This stretches the vagina allowing the surgeon to cut the uterus free at the cervix. The surgeon closes the top of the vagina with stitches, and provides added support by attaching the ligaments that once held the uterus in place. The incision is then closed... and a drainage tube may be left inserted at the site. Finally, a sterile bandage is applied. PostCare™ Basic Center: Getting Out of Bed After Surgery By postcarecom http://www.PreOp.com Patient ED @ 617-379-1582 INFO his program provides you with tips to help you get out of bed after abdominal or chest surgery for patient education For the first few days when you come home after surgery, it is always best to have a family member or friend help you to get out of bed. Do not get out of bed directly from lying flat. Always sit up in bed for a few minutes. Move the bedcovers well out of the way. Move nearer to the side of the bed. Pivot your body and legs so that you are sitting with your legs dangling over the side of the bed. Hold the mattress with your hands for support and keep your back straight. Gently swing your legs back and forth, bend and stretch your ankles and twiddle your toes. If you feel faint or weak, go back to bed for patient education Have your helper put on your socks, and shoes or sturdy slippers with low heels and non-slip soles. Use a footstool if the bed is too high for your feet to reach the floor without sliding off the bed. Stand still on the floor with your feet slightly apart for a few seconds. Have your helper put on and fasten your robe. For the first few times out of bed, when you feel strong enough, walk a few steps to a bedside chair with arms. When you reach the chair, turn round so that your calves are touching the front of the chair. Bend your knees, grasp both arms of the chair firmly and lower yourself backward into the chair. Reverse the process to get out of the chair for patient education At any time, * if you feel weak * or dizzy * or have chest pain, * let your helper get you back to bed * and inform your doctor. Some additional tips for the helper to follow for patient education * Make sure your own footwear has non-slip soles. * Remove any hazards from the floor, such as slip rugs, frayed carpet or linoleum, or electric cords. * Stand at the side of your patient, not directly in front * Avoid lifting your patient under the arms.
