Solo uniti, si può vincere l'ignoranza spirituale, che attanaglia il genere umano. ----------------------------- MANDALA Non vi è al mondo un altro disegno simbolico così universale come il mandala; esiste da sempre, compare in tempi diversi e in ogni cultura visto che il più antico mandala sin qui conosciuto è una "ruota solare" paleolitica scoperta nell'Africa del sud. Ma mirabili esempi di mandala cristiani si trovano già nel primo Medioevo, mostrando perlopiù Cristo nel centro ed i quattro evangelisti o i loro simboli ai quattro punti cardinali. Inoltre possiamo osservare figure mandaliche nei rosoni delle nostre chiese, nei labirinti, nelle forme di certi templi, come pure nei siti etruschi e romani. Anche la natura attorno a noi spesso si presenta sotto forme mandaliche: nella frutta, nelle pietre, nei fiori, tra gli alberi, su nel cielo. Oltre ad essere disegnati i mandala vengono anche "vissuti": in India esiste la danza del mandala, tra gli indiani Navaho la persona da curare viene collocata al centro del cerchio disegnato sul terreno mentre in occidente l'idea del centro e del cerchio protettivo si ritrova in numerose danze popolari oltre che nel girotondo dei bambini. ---------------------------- Mandala (Sanskrit maṇḍala मंड "essence" + ल "having" or "containing". It is also often translated as "circle-circumference" or "completion", both derived from the Tibetan term dkyil khor is a term used to refer to various objects. It is of Hindu origin[citation needed], but is also used in other Indian religions, such as Buddhism. In the Tibetan branch of Vajrayana Buddhism, they have been developed into sandpainting. In practice, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the Universe from the human perspective. In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of aspirants and adepts, a spiritual teaching tool, for establishing a sacred space and as an aid to meditation and trance induction. Its symbolic nature can help one "to access progressively deeper levels of the unconscious, ultimately assisting the meditator to experience a mystical sense of oneness with the ultimate unity from which the cosmos in all its manifold forms arises."
