Mallika Sherawat has often played the blabber-mouthed girl-next- door roles. However in her forthcoming film, Jennifer Lynch's Hissss, she won't have any dialogues. Mallika who plays a snake woman, will express her emotions and feelings through body language and expressions. Sherawat plays Naagin, a snake person who transforms into a beautiful woman in her search for vengeance. Hissss also features Irfan Khan, who starred in Slumdog Millionaire, and Jeff Douchette. The actress, who appeared in the blockbuster Welcome in 2007, described her role in Hissss as unusually challenging. She said: "I have always taken risks, done unconventional things. This role too is very unusual - my get-up is something never before seen in Bollywood movies. I have to express emotions through my eyes as I dont have any dialogue." Director Jennifer Lynch says, "Mallika is a snake so how is she expected to talk? She doesn't know the human language. The world of words and sentences is unknown to her. As a snake, she has other senses with which she communicates. Even when she transforms from her snake form to the human one, she doesn't speak. Mallika kind of freaked out when she was told that she had no lines. As an actress, she is used to convey her emotions and expressions through dialogues." A source reveals that this is Mallika's most challenging role till date. "It's not just mentally exhausting but also physically. She has to forget that she's human when she takes the snake form. Her body movements and expressions change. Her make-up takes about five hours to be put on and she has to wear contact lenses, which resemble a snakes eye, all day, which is a painful ordeal." When asked how Mallika is coping with these requirements, Jennifer says, "She is a sport and is doing everything possible in her capacity to make this role her best. She realises it's a big challenge but is fully determined to go all out to bring it alive on screen." Jennifer Lynch has made fantabulous project. With crème de la crème technicians from Hollywood and reigning superstars of Hindi Cinema on the screens, the film has been stupendously crafted. Synopsis As the story goes, the movie is about the Vengeance of Naagin, the Snake Woman when the legend of the Naagin has been spreading for over 4000 years ago. Finally in 2009 George States (Jeff Douchette), a ruthless American travels to the jungles of India and captures her mate. She transforms into a stunningly attractive woman (Mallika Sherawat) with absolutely no clue about contemporary civilization or the ways of mankind, and ventures into the city in desperate search for her lover with vengeance on her mind and venom in her fangs.
