Betty's Fresh Fruit Salad Tossed with Salad Greens In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make a Fresh Fruit Salad Tossed with Salad Greens. This is a versatile salad, and you may change the types of salad greens and the types of fruits. Also, you may make as much or little as you like! Ingredients (for a large bowl of salad): 2 cups fresh spinach leaves, washed and dried 2 cups fresh iceberg lettuce, washed and dried and torn in pieces 1 ½ cups fresh red raspberries, washed and dried 1 ½ cups fresh blueberries, washed and dried 1 ½ cups fresh pineapple, cut in chunks 1 ½ cups fresh strawberries, washed and halved 1 ½ cups fresh red seedless grapes, washed and dried 1 ½ cups banana slices, tossed with a slight amount of lemon juice carmalized cashews (from bettyskitchen), as desired poppy seed dressing (from bettyskitchen), as desired In a large bowl, place 2 cups spinach leaves and 2 cups iceberg lettuce leaves, torn into manageable pieces. Add 1 ½ cups fresh red raspberries, 1 ½ cups fresh blueberries, 1 ½ cups fresh pineapple chunks, 1 ½ cups fresh strawberry halves, 1 ½ cups fresh red seedless grapes, and1 ½ cups banana slices. Toss gently, until salad is well combined. Add about ½ cup caramelized cashews and toss again to incorporate them into the salad. Spoon salad onto a nice serving dish. Top with a few caramelized cashews and drizzle with poppy seed dressing. Serve immediately. If your growling stomach sounds like a caged animal, you can satiate that ravenous beast without having to scrub a bunch of pots and pans afterwards. To complete this How-To you will need: A crusty hoagie bun Sliced cheeses Sliced cold cuts Thinly sliced cucumber Thinly sliced tomato Mayonnaise or sandwich dressing Romaine lettuce Sprouts Bacon An olive A frilly toothpick Fresh herbs (optional) Salsa (optional) Guacamole (optional) Step 1: Slice bun Slice the bun lengthwise. Dig a trench through the center of both halves with your fingers. Step 2: Pile on meats and cheeses Fill the trenches with your choice of fresh meats and cheeses to form a protective moisture barrier to the bread. Step 3: Add cucumber and tomato Add the cucumber and tomato slices to balance the salty bite of the meat and cheese. Tip: Pack your ingredients separately and construct your sandwich on site if you take your lunch to work or school. This preserves freshness and protects against soggy bread. Step 4: Drizzle mayo or dressing Drizzle on the mayo or dressing of your choice. Be gentle -- you don't want to turn your sandwich into an oily mess. Tip: Flavor the mayo with fresh herbs, such as basil or oregano, or use salsa or guacamole for a change of pace. Step 5: Top with lettuce or sprouts Top your sandwich with romaine lettuce and sprouts for a refreshing crunch. Step 6: Add bacon and olive Add crumbled bacon for extra flavor. Spear the olive with the toothpick and stick it through your sandwich to hold it together. Step 7: Let sandwich rest Let the sandwich rest for 10 minutes at room temperature to let the flavors meld together. Unless you can't wait -- then dig in!
