A robot that flies like a bird

http://www.ted.com Plenty of robots can fly -- but none can fly like a real bird. That is, until Markus Fischer and his team at Festo built SmartBird, a large, lightweight robot, modeled on a seagull, that flies by flapping its wings. A soaring demo fresh from TEDGlobal 2011. TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate. Rock Linear Drum Lesson

Vote for OnlineDrummer.com in the 2011 Drummies! Poll. The website voting is on the last page. Feel free to skip ahead... http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/drummies A quick drum lesson outlining a hybrid-linear rock groove, broken down into simpler pieces. The hand pattern of this groove is created using the linear pattern concept, while additional elements (i.e. bass drum, hi hat w/foot) are added to fill in the groove. The result: a hybrid linear groove where the linear hand pattern is met with a non-linear foot pattern. Neon Bugler font movie

To learn more about this font and how to purchase it, visit http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/breauhare/neon-bugler/ This is a short animation demo clip for Neon Bugler, a font designed by Harry Warren of breauhare fonts, based on the third logo he created in early 1975 for his sixth grade class newsletter, The Broadwater Bugler, at Broadwater Academy in Exmore, Virginia, on Virginia's Eastern Shore. This font design has these principles as its parameters: The letters generally follow what would be natural stroke directions; no sharp corners, all gentle turns; no lines back up over each other, cross each other, or run into each other. All of this civility between the lines produces an unintentional but welcome neon quality about it. This font can have a variety of vibes depending on its context--it has a certain nostalgia to it, yet it also has a slick, clean, futuristic look. It can even be used in a semi-grunge setting. This is a very versatile font! This font was digitized by John Bomparte. Thanks so much to David Smouha, a.k.a. Smooee, of www.design2.tv for creating this videoclip!

Lecture 2 | The Fourier Transforms and its Applications

Lecture by Professor Brad Osgood for the Electrical Engineering course, The Fourier Transforms and its Applications (EE 261). Professor Osgood's lecture addresses the question- How can we use such simple functions, sin(t) and cos(t) to model such periodic phenomenon? He takes the students through the first steps in analyzing general periodic phenomenon. The Fourier transform is a tool for solving physical problems. In this course the emphasis is on relating the theoretical principles to solving practical engineering and science problems.
