El VI Seminario Internacional Marx Vive hace parte de un proyecto de trabajo académico de un grupo de profesores e investigadores de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia y de otras instituciones, iniciado en 1998, con motivo de la celebración de los ciento cincuenta años de la publicación del Manifiesto Comunista de Carlos Marx y Federico Engels. Marx vive ha tenido como propósito principal constituirse en un espacio académico y político para la critica a la sociedad capitalista contemporánea, el examen de sus principales cambios y el análisis de sus nuevas configuraciones. Especial atención ha merecido el estudio de las transformaciones del sujeto político, de las resistencias y las alternativas al nuevo orden capitalista. En el ultimo periodo, se ha concentrado en el análisis de las nuevas tendencias del proceso político, socioeconómico y cultural en America Latina, en particular de las experiencias que han abierto nuevas posibilidades para la izquierda y el ideario socialista. El proyecto en mención ha realizado hasta el momento cinco seminarios internacionales y ha publicado cinco libros: Siglo y medio del Manifiesto Comunista: ¿Superacion, vigencia, reactualización? (1999), Sujetos políticos y alternativas en el actual capitalismo (2001), Dominacion, crisis y resistencias en el nuevo orden capitalista (2003), Teoria y acción política en el capitalismo actual (2006), Izquierda y Socialismo en America Latina (2008). Con el VI Seminario Internacional se da continuidad a esa línea de trabajo. En esta ocasión, la tematica del seminario se centrara en el análisis de la crisis capitalista mundial y su impacto en America Latina. El seminario busca suministrar elementos teoricos y políticos para un mejor entendimiento del carácter de dicha crisis, examina su devenir concreto, se ocupa de las políticas que se han formulado para enfrentarla, y explora sus impactos a nivel mundial y, sobre todo, en America Latina. Desde sus inicios, Marx vive ha contado con el concurso de la Facultad de Derecho, Ciencias Politicas y Sociales, en especial del Departamento de Ciencia Politica de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. A la convocatoria del VI Seminario Internacional se ha sumado la Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas. El seminario cuenta además con el apoyo de la Asociacion Espacio Critico.
