Quran Chapter 77 Surah al-Mursalât, by: Abu Bakr ash-Shatri By talantischa... Period of Revelation Its subject matter bears full evidence that it was revealed in the earliest period at Makkah. If this Surah is read together with the two Surahs preceding it, namely Al-Qiyamah and Ad-Dahr, and the two Surahs following it, namely An-Naba and An-Nazi'ât, it becomes obvious that all these Surahs are the Revelations of the same period, and they deal with one and the same theme, which has been impressed on the people of Makkah in different ways. Theme and Subject Matter Its theme is to affirm the Resurrection and Hereafter and to warn the people of the consequences which will ultimately follow the denial and the affirmation of these truths. Why woe to the when who denies the judgement day, recompense and the afterlife ? Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala( free is he, High from any deficiency) said' (67:02) He Who created Death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving. (51:56)I created the jinn and mankind only that they might worship Me. (45:22) Allah (God) created the heavens and the earth in Truth that each person may be requited for his deeds. And they shall not be wronged. * That is, 'Allah has not created the earth and the heavens for mere sport, but it is a wise system with a purpose. In this system it is absolutely unimaginable that the people who may have accomplished good deeds by the right use of the powers and means and resources granted by Allah and the people who may have spread mischief and wickedness by their wrong use, should end up ultimately in the dust after death, and there should be no life after death in which their good and bad deeds should lead to good or bad results according to JUSTICE. If this were so, this universe would be the plaything of a thoughtless being, and not a purposeful system devised by a Wise Being." In this context the sentence clearly means: 'If the good people are not rewarded for their goodness, and the wicked are not punished for their wickedness, and the grievances of the oppressed are not redressed, it would be injustice, my question to you: is God unjust then, do believe that?. There cannot be such an injustice in the Kingdom of God. Likewise, there cannot also be the other kind of injustice that a good man be given a lesser reward what is due to him, or a bad man given a greater punishment than what he deserves. It's a major crime to believe that the One who created man and then endowed him/her with attributes, such as wisdom and justice, and then think that God Himself, the giver of of attributes doesn't possess wisdom and justice. If God is Just it necessitates that since there can't be an ultimate judgment in this life and He's seeing all the injustice taking place in His kingdom there must be a time when He will deal with it, that's the reason God says: "Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)!" Woe to those who believe that there is no Judgment day, by ripping of God from His Perfect attributes. 26. O Dâwûd (David)! Verily! We have placed you as a successor on earth, so judge you between men in truth (and justice) and follow not your desire for it will mislead you from the Path of Allâh. Verily! Those who wander astray from the Path of Allâh (shall) have a severe torment, because they forgot the Day of Reckoning. 27. And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them without purpose! That is the consideration of those who disbelieve! Then woe to those who disbelieve (in Islâmic Monotheism) from the Fire! 28. Shall We treat those who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh Islâmic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, as Mufsidûn (those who associate partners in worship with Allâh and commit crimes) on earth? Or shall We treat the Muttaqûn (pious), as the Fujjâr (criminals, disbelievers, wicked, etc)?
