F 35 Lightning II By RedBeret1010011 The F-35 Lightning II is a multi-role aircraft that can perform close air support, tactical bombing, and air-to-air combat. Some improvements over current-generation fighter aircraft are: - Durable, low-maintenance stealth technology; - Integrated avionics and sensor fusion that combine information from off- and onboard sensors to increase the pilot's situational awareness and improve identification and weapon delivery, and to relay information quickly to other command and control (C2) nodes; - High speed MIL-STD-1394B data networking - Low life-cycle costs. It is reported that the Aircraft will be produced under licence in Turkey by Turkish Aerospace Industries. The F-35A not only matches the F-16 in maneuverability, instantaneous and sustained high-g performance, but also outperforms it in stealth, payload, range on internal fuel, avionics, operational effectiveness, supportability, and survivability. It also has an internal laser designator and infra-red sensors. Armament: 1 x GAU-12/U 25 mm cannon — slated to be mounted internally with 180 rounds in the F-35A Internally (current planned weapons for integration) up to four AIM-120 AMRAAM, AIM-9X Sidewinder or AIM-132 ASRAAM internally or two air-to-air and two air-to-ground weapons (up to two 2,000 lb weapons in A and C models; two 1000 lb weapons in the B model) in the bomb bays. These could be AMRAAM, the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) — up to 2,000 lb (910 kg), the Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW), Small Diameter Bombs (SDB) — a maximum of 4 in each bay, the Brimstone anti-armor missiles, Cluster Munitions (WCMD) and High Speed Anti-Radiation Missiles (HARM). The MBDA Meteor air-to-air missile is currently being adapted to fit internally in the missile spots and may be integrated into the F-35. At the expense of being more detectable by radar, many more missiles, bombs and fuel tanks can be attached on four wing pylons and two wingtip positions. The two wingtip pylons can only carry short-range air-to-air missiles (AIM-9s), while the Storm Shadow and Joint Air to Surface Stand-off Missile (JASSM) cruise missiles can be carried in addition to the stores already integrated. An air-to-air load of 12 AIM-120s and 2 AIM-9s is conceivable using internal and external weapons stations, as well as a configuration of six two thousand pound bombs, 2 AIM-120s, and 2 AIM-9s. Directed-energy weapons Directed-energy weapons may be installed in conventional takeoff F-35 Lightning IIs, whose lack of a direct lift fan frees up about 10 ft3 (0.28 m3) of space and whose engine provides more than 27,000 hp (20 MW) for electrical power. Some concepts, including solid state lasers and high-power microwave beams, may be nearing operational status. F-16 Start Up Sequence By flightlevel69 Start up of the F-16C is simple....no external APUs or other equipment is necessary. One switch turns on the battery and then another switch hits the Jet Fuel Starter. When you see the GREEN JFS light, unock the throttle and in less than a minute you're up to idle speed, and the only thing left to do is aligning the inertial navigation and perform pre-flight checks. BTW, the sound you hear at the beginning, its not an APU, its the motor from the canopy. You'll here a buzz, thats the battery, then you'll here it spooling thru N (nancy) stages. You'll notice he then glances over at the fan turbine inlet temp, oil pressure, nozzle position (NOZ) and RPM guages. After that he glances left and as the two lights go out on the left side panel, its all clear on engine start. He then reaches to the right, turns on the lights, and turns on navigation and other nav functions. As the navs start coming up and the ICP is lit up, you will notice the green lettering in the box to the RIGHT of the ICP, that is the inertial navigation system, and as that goes thru its checks you'll see "RDY" which means its ready and aligned. Then the MFD's come up and the HUD comes alive. The F-16C has a new wide angle HUD, which provides all flight info and weapons aiming Q's so the pilot can keep his head out of the cockpit and on target. Directly below the HUD you'll see the square box, called ICP or Inegrated Control Panel, on either side you'll see two MFD's that can show tac, nav, weapons and other information. Yak-130 Combat Trainer, Russia By 01e9 The Yak-130 combat trainer was selected as the winner of the trainer competition of the Voyenno Vozdushnyye Sily, Russian Federation Air Force, in April 2002. The aircraft is also being actively marketed for export by Yakovlev, the Irkut company, and by Rosoboronexport. The Russian Air Force has a future requirement for 300 Yak-130 aircraft that can be deployed as a light strike aircraft or as a trainer for a range of fourth or fifth-generation fighters. An order has been placed for the first 12 aircraft to replace ageing Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatros. The aircraft will enter service in the Russian Federation Air Force in 2007 at the military pilot training academy in Krasnodar. The production line for the aircraft at the Aviation Plant Sokol in Nizhny Novgorod, known as NAZ Sokol, is fully operational and the roll out of the first production series aircraft took place in May 2003. A series of flight tests of the serial production aircraft was started in April 2004 and will be completed in early 2006. The Russian Air Force ordered official testing in May 2005. The full trials of the advanced combat trainer, including spin and combat tactics trials, will be completed in 2007 prior to delivery to the Russian Air Force. In March 2006, it was announced that Algeria had placed an order for 16 Yak-130 trainers. DEVELOPMENT A joint programme for trainer development between Yakovlev of Russia and Aermacchi of Italy began in 1993 and the Yak / AEM-130D demonstrator first flew in 1996. In 1999, the partnership was dissolved and the Yakovlev Yak-130 and the Aermacchi M346 became separate programmes. By the second quarter of 2003, the Yak-130 prototype had successfully completed 450 flights, including high-manoeuvrability flight demonstrations such as a controlled angle of attack of 42°. The Yak-130 has a maximum g-loading of +8g to -3g and is capable of executing the flight manoeuvres specific to current operational and developmental combat aircraft, including Su-30, MiG-29, Mirage, F-15, F-16, Eurofighter, F-22 and F-35. Other variants of the Yak-130 being considered include a navalised carrier-based trainer aircraft, a lightweight reconnaissance aircraft and an unmanned strike aircraft. WWE Summerslam 2008 Predictions First 4 Matches By alithekingshah PLEASE PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION FIRST: These are my predictions for wwe summerslam 2008 for the first four matches that are announced so far. Please rate and comment. Here are the notes to tell you people that why I think my predictions would win their matches. 1. Matt hardy vs. Mark Henry(c) -ECW Title: Now many people would think that why would I pick henry. Well he has won his ECW title just recently at Night of Champions and he has been given a major push. Also Mark Henry has a size and strength advantage against matt hardy plus he also has tony atlas in his corner which will play a huge part in the match. Plus this is maybe the first time we have seen these two collide they might save more matches for an immediate future first they will see if they have a good chemistry. But since this is their first collision i have to go with the champion oh i am sorry i mean the world's strongest champion. Winner and Still Champion: Mark Henry 2. HHH(c) vs. The Great Khali- WWE Title: First time ever. First thing is first i don't know why would they book this match for summerslam why Khali?, he is actually one of those big guys in the wwe who can't wrestle. If Khali wants to win this one he has to play the game. And since HHH's title reign started in April wwe might give him a long 6-8 month title reign or even longer since HHH is getting old and needs a final long title run and also because he is son in law of Mr. Mcmahon. So there is no way Khali would win. Winner and Still Champion: HHH 3. Batista vs. Cena: Another first time ever. these two are the ones who the wwe takes care of the most and always push them to the main event level no matter how much untalented and overated they actually are especially Cena. Well my prediction would be Cena because if he loses it will be a third PPV loss in a row for him and he will job for the third time at an event. Batista did not lose at the GAB he did however lose at NOC but it was a screwjob for him. However Cena lost both the matches he had at the NOC and GAB to HHH and JBL respectively without any screwjobs whatsoever but he lost cleanly. Plus if cena loses he will lose most of his popularity to Batista since this is the first time ever they are colliding. Cena also lost back at this years wrestlemania and if he loses at Summerslam he will go down in the books as the superstar who lost big matches at 2 of the wwe's big four PPVs. Also they also collided as the final two participants of the 2005's royal rumble match in which Batista ultimately won by eliminating Cena and I also remember a match last year on raw which took place before wrestlmania 23 featuring Batista and Undertaker vs. Cena and HBK and in that match Batista and Taker won after Batista pinned cena and according to that batista does have a pinfall win over Cena to his credit and Cena doesn't. So this time they may give a win to Cena and put Cena over Batista. Plus i heard that Batista would be taking some time off this year this might be clarified if Batista loses his match to Cena and suffers a Kayfabe injury during or after the match allowing him to take some off. Since Taker also took time off earlier this year he is coming back at Summerslam so it might be the right time to give Batista his time off. I have a bad feeling of interference during this match by kane and/or JBL but it might not happen if both JBL and/or Kane will be involved in the world title match against CM Punk at Summerslam so this interference thing just might not happen. Winner: Cena 4. Taker vs. Edge - HIAC: It is about time that this long feud ends and the best way to end it is a HIAC match where we will indeed have a decissive winner. And since this is Taker's return match than he must return on a winning and not on a losing note. Plus Edge can't beat Taker cleanly especially in the match that the deadman is the master and the creator of plus there no interferences and i know wwe won't pull off the camera man stuff they pulled in the Taker vs. batista HIAC match last year by having someone interfering because it would get repitative.Also the deadman is hungry for revenge against the rated r superstar. And since the La Familia had disbanded and all of hawkins, ryder, chavo and bam neely are supporting Vickie Guererro, Taker will win and Edge will R.I.P at Summerslam and get what is coming to him. This weekend, the USAF has allowed one more thing about the F-22 to be shown to the public: its maneuvering capabilities. By zeoul001 AMX in-flight refueling problems..The AMX International AMX "Ghibli" is a surface attack aircraft for battlefield interdiction, close air support and reconnaissance missions. It is built by the AMX International joint venture. In the Brazilian Air Force, it is designated the A-1. The AMX is capable of operating at high subsonic speed and low altitude, by day or night, and if necessary, from bases with poorly equipped or damaged runways. Low IR signature, reduced radar equivalent cross section and low vulnerability of structure and systems guarantee a high probability of mission success. Integrated ECM, air-to-air missiles and nose-mounted guns provide self-defence capabilities.In 1977, the Italian Air Force issued a requirement for a strike fighter to replace its Aeritalia G.91 and some of its F-104 Starfighters. Rather than competing for the contract, Aeritalia (now Alenia Aeronautica) and Aermacchi agreed to make a joint proposal, as both firms had been considering the development of a similar class of aircraft for some years. Development work began in April 1978. In March 1981, the Italian government and Brazilian governments agreed on joint requirements for the aircraft, and Embraer was invited to join the partnership in July. The first prototype flew on May 15 1984. Although it was lost on its fifth flight (killing its pilot), the test programme was otherwise reasonably smooth. Mass production started by mid-1986, with the first examples delivered to the Italian and Brazilian air forces in 1989. Since then, some 200 AMXs have been built.
