Cobus - Vanilla Sky - Umbrella (Drum Cover) Laus Deo Semper http://www.CobusPotgieter.com http://www.facebook.com/deedlebag This is a drum cover (or remix) of Vanilla Sky's cover of Rihanna's song, Umbrella. (whoa, now that's one complicated sentence) Crazy amounts of fun, this one. Loved the groovy parts in the intro and outtro, aswell as the heavy stuff in the middle. Obviously the last few choruses were also quite nice to do :) (As for the outtro doublebass crossovers; it's the only part of the song that was written beforehand, the rest is all improvised on the spot, to keep things fresh and unpredictable.) I have to emphasize, I know calling this a "cover" is wrong, seeing as I only PARTLY stayed true to the song's drums (or lack thereof), through the WHOLE song i play some variations of the beats, phrasing and fills, since 99% of what i play is improvised. Even though i have done my fair share of session and studio drumming, that has little to zero effect on these video's, I kind of see them as live performances. I'm NOT aiming to be accurate to the original drums, I'm just aiming to enjoy myself. Cobus - Avenged Sevenfold - Afterlife (Drum Cover) Laus Deo Semper http://www.CobusPotgieter.com http://www.facebook.com/deedlebag This is a drum cover of Avenged Sevenfold's song, AFterlife. I had only been playing doublebass for a few months at the time of this recordig, so please be lenient with he comments about that ;) For the record, ALL double strokes were played with one pedal, ie the ones at the end of the gutiar solo, as you can very clearly see by how crazily tired I was after that piece :) I would hve LOVED to show you the FootCam of this, but I forgot to rewind the tape for the whole third set, so with a few songs I unfortunately couln't use the FootCam shots. As with the Planetshakers song, I was really scared of doing a praise+worship song as a "cover" since I find it pretty darn weird jamming and improvising (and especially "entertaining"..) with a song intended to give glory to God. LINKIN PARK - PAPERCUT (English - Español - Lyrics - Subs) GROUP: Linkin Park (EEUU) THEME: "Papercut" ALBUM: Hybrid Theory GENRE: Nu Metal, Rap Rock, Alternative Rock RELEASED: October (2000) TRACK: 01 ENGLISH - ENGLISH - ENGLISH "Papercut" is a song by the American rock band Linkin Park. It was released as the third single from their debut album Hybrid Theory, and appears as the opening track on the record. The "Papercut" single was never officially released in the US. The song reached number 14 in the UK Singles Chart in 2001 and was in the chart for 6 weeks.[1][2] It also reached number 32 on the Modern Rock Tracks Chart in 2002. "Papercut" is a song about an individual who always looks out for himself, and is haunted by paranoia. The music video shows the band in a seemingly haunted house. They are playing the song in a room with little light with a rather spooky picture sampled from the cover artwork of the Xero demo tape. This was painted by Mike Shinoda the night before the video was shot. To their left of their room is a dark kitchen that sports a bound and writhing figure (likely the paranoid individual referenced in the song); to the right of their room is what appears to be a laboratory with a strange creature inside. It moves extremely fast and in an erratic manner. Later in the song, the creature releases dragonflies (probably referring to the wings of a Hybrid Theory Soldier), while the baby picture and regions of the left wall bulge. Rob Bourdon's eyes appear melted as well (using special effects). Also, there is a statue of a bird which spins its head all the way around, and at one point, Mike's fingers stretch. There are parts of the song during which Mike is out of sync with the music, and at one point not even moving his mouth while he is speaking (whether or not this is intentional is unknown). In the video, the only member of the band to take notice of the strange goings-on is the drummer, Rob Bourdon. The lyrics of the song appear scribbled along the walls in the dark rooms. Even though the song features heavy distorted electric guitars, both the guitarist Brad Delson and the bassist Dave Farrell play acoustic guitars in the video. The effects and imagery of the music video, brings to the audience a sense of irritation and certain paranoia, which is what the song is about.
