Bad Girls, Series1, Episode10, Part1 By lunaturk Bad Girls, Series1, Episode10 "Love Hurts" Part 1 of 2 ---------------------------------------- ---- Nikki and Helen's interactions unravel around Monica's appeal. Sean feels Helen's increasing irritability and disattachment. Well, Helen's carrying a chip on her shoulder that is as heavy as Nikki's heart. Helen receives Nikki's open university application in the mail. She's afraid to face her, and face herself indeed. Fenner notifies Nikki that Helen's expecting her in the office. A suprised and nervous Nikki rushes to her tormentor. Helen goes right into business about Nikki's university application hiding behind her authority. Nikki will not be crossed. When asked, "Why have you been avoiding me?", Helen replies, "You know "what" I'm avoiding." Hmmm. Instead of why. Nikki and we all would like to know "what". But here comes the same old speech from Helen about how she's only interested in Nikki's welfare as an inmate. As a frustrated and angry Nikki makes a move to the door, Helen once again stops and warns her, "If you keep this up one of us will have to leave Larkhall." Does she have no heart? Or is she trying to say, "You're going to make me fall in love with you". Little she realizes, she's already in too deep. As the door closes, Helen's drowning in thought between her conscience and her feelings. Monica's ODing attempt is discovered by Nikki. The Julies and Nikki help her come back to life. Helen's locking up. Where is Fenner and the other guards? Helen took an interest in locking up maybe just to see Nikki once more before going home. Well, she figures out what happened with Monica and is quite upset about it. She shows up at Nikki's cell to question her. Good excuse..Nikki's back is turned on Helen smoking a cig. You dismissed me earlier, and now I'll dismiss you. Nikki's not to be had. Helen wants a "straight" answer from Nikki re: Monica. Nikki smirks to the "straight" comment. She has to spell it out, "I did it to protect you." Duh Helen! Ponder about it over night... Helen gets home, what a day! She agrees to go out for a "cheap and cheerful" with Sean and friends. Yea, cheerful she is. She's just avoiding to be alone with Sean. Here comes the good part. Helen nonchalantly mentions to Sean that Nikki's in love with her. And totally lies about how "the kiss" happened. "She tried to drag me into her cell and kiss me." Vow she's in total denial. Sean's upset, but Helen assures him that it won't happen again. Yeah, OK. Helen knows things are getting out of her control...The truth shall set her free! End of part 1. Tune into Part 2 for the finale. Bad Girls, Series 1, Episode 10, Part 2 By lunaturk Bad Girls, Series1, Episode10 "Love Hurts" Part 2 of 2 --------------------------------------- Nikki gives one of the best speeches to Monica about life in prison, death, and freedom before she leaves Larkhall to stand at her appeal case. Helen pondering overnight about what Nikki's done for her wants to let Nikki know that "She's grateful." Nikki brushes her off and walks away; ofcourse grateful is not the word she wants to hear. Larkhall is swept by feelings of joy and hope as they watch Monica getting released on the telly. Nikki's yearning face reflects on the tv screen as she watches Helen and Monica embrace. She wishes it was her arms around Helen as a free woman! Helen meets with Sean at the tailor to deliver the verdict. Sean's verdict that is. A very emotional Helen is forced to blurt it out in the store, "I can't marry you, 'cause I don't love you". Back in the office, a guilt ridden Helen tries to call Sean at home, answering machine picks up...A call from the gate guard notifies Helen that Sean is here and headed to the gardens. Helen jumps up off her chair, "Shit". And certainly did it ever hit the fan. Helen runs out. By this time, Sean is all set for the final act. He's hammered in a half wooden cross to the ground, hung up his suit, neatly buttoned it up, soaking it with flammable fluid waiting for Helen to arrive. Meanwhile, entire Larkhall is singing and dancing to "I will survive." How appropriate for all. Bodybag notices Sean setting up the pyre in the garden and announces the odd behavior. People quickly gather infront of the window, ready to watch he symbolic showdown. And "here comes the blushing bride to be", no more... She is wearing a suit identical to the one hanging on the cross. Coincidence, I don't think so. Helen asks him what he's doing. No answer, instead Sean flicks the lighter, sets the suit on fire, throw his keys infront of Helen and walks away. A distraught Helen picks up the keys off the grass and looks up only to catch Nikki's eyes staring in shock and concern. Nikki has her red shirt on. Hmmm. The real fire. Fenner remarks, "Oh dear, oh dear." Nikki runs back to her cell as Helen's walking away in the courtyard. She's walking through the fire, she's walking alone, she's walking into an unknown...But wait, Nikki's right there, her face squeezed in the tiny window in her cell screaming "Helen!" Helen stops and looks up, as if waking from a dream, their eyes meet again. Helen stays quiet and walks off. Lock up time at Larkhall. Helen walks out of the building into the night, a file folder tightly held by her chest. Could it be Nikki Wade's? She beeps her car, stares at the building one last time, and gets in. As the tradition goes, Larkhall residents are doing their shout outs after lockup settling in their cell for the night. As Nikki is sitting by the window in the dark and smoking a cigarette, Zandra yells, "Hey Julies! Know any good busting up with your boyfriend songs?" Nikki has a half wise smile in her face, you can almost read her mind, "Helen's all mine now." being hopeful about the future. Both Julies answer in unison, "You kidding? You name it, we know it, we've lived it!" Nikki's smile widens. Yvonne yells back "Yeah, but do you know the chords?" Bad Girls, Series1, Episode9, Part1 By lunaturk Bad Girls, Series1, Episode9 "Pay Back Time" Part 1 of 3 ---------------------------------------- ---- Seems like a beautiful early summer morning...outside... Inside, a very Stoli hung over Helen in her robe is babying her Alka Seltzer water as Sean's probing her about the wedding: the registry office... Did you tell your dad?... You are not ashamed of me, are you? We steal a glimpse of Helen's relationship with her dad as she sarcastically mentions her father never approved anything she did in her life. She surely won't feel like letting him down in the future then...:-) Nikki's in the library by herself browsing as usual when Helen walks in. Nikki's in attack mode as she is when she's self doubting and the only way out is to challenge Helen, "You look a little pasty Helen. Did you have a good night?" Helen is not feeling up to the confrontation. She can't even face Nikki. She totally ignores the commentary and side steps to "I was looking for Monica." Thank God for Monica, without her these two would not have an excuse to talk to one another. Nikki is now in full force, and Helen breaks down, "This is difficult for me, I think you know." Nikki steps right up to her face "So what do you want?" daring Helen to respond, physically... Helen definitely considers to give in for a split second as she gazes down Nikki's face. Helen wishes she knows what she exactly wants. Nikki keeps pushing, "Sorry, Am I making you feel uncomfortable?" Damn Nikki, you'd make me feel uncomfortable.. Helen knows she's in trouble. She nervously turns away and studders her words as she runs out the library. She wants it...and now knows that "She can't have it both ways"... Monica is busted by Helen when she's on the phone telling she does not want to continue with her appeal. Helen is upset and concerned and guess who she runs to...Nikki working in the garden. Although Nikki begins by teasing Helen, "You again..." she lets it go when Helen tells her it's about Monica. As they walk down in the yard and talk, their bodies slightly brush against one another, and there's a finally we're getting somewhere going down this road feel. Helen needs Nikki's help to convince Monica to go through with her appeal. Helen sounds timid and vulnerable, "I know that she respects you." She wants to say, "So do I." Pay attention to Helen holding Nikki's arm a little longer than necessary as she says, "thanks" to Nikki. Not the best camera work here, but maybe intentionally done to be subtle. This is definitely a Helen and Nikki make up scene. All is good... Monica is obsessively counting her pills as Nikki pays her a visit in her cell. Nikki wants her to reconsider not just for herself but for all the women in Larkhall. It'd give her something to aim for. "...like my degree course...it helps me get through things...gives me hope." Oh I think we all know what gives you hope Nikki. Finally, a change of heart? Monica's withholding, yet tells Nikki that she'll think about it. Nikki, in her God awful shrunken pants, is placing a phone call with pen and paper ready in hand. Helen's sitting on the very end of her sofa holding a wine glass deep in thought, detached from Sean. The phone rings, Sean jumps up to get it, "Is Helen there?", Sean hands the phone to Helen, "It's for you, some woman." Yea Sean, some woman that is. When Nikki hears Helen's voice, she quickly hangs up. I guess she doesn't want to talk to her when Sean's around. But she still wanted to hear Helen's voice. She could have hung up when Sean answered. Is she making a point? Message's well taken. The distance between Sean and Helen is widening, quite literally. Next morning, as Helen's running out the door carrying a wad of folders, as if she does any work at home but drink and think, Sean stops her to ask a few things about the wedding. Helen's indifferent attitude is apparent, and so is Sean's concern. He tells Helen that he did offer her the choice of getting out. It's not the choice of getting out that Helen's worried about, it's the other choice...How long can she run? Nevertheless, for now, she assures Sean with an unconvincing "I do" that she still wants to get married. Until... End of part 1. Tune into part 2.
