Therefore this Convention condemns all acts of terrorism perpetuated in the name of Islam and dubs them as anti-Islam; Sufis have been playing key role in the construction of peaceful society, promotion of peace and harmony and propagation of Islam in every age. Their shrines are the cultural symbols and enjoy sanctity. Their desecration and vandalizing is an outright anti-Islam acts. Therefore, such actions are condemned in the strongest possible words. Islam does not allow the desecration of religious places of other religions and all such activities amounting to the same are also considered against Islamic teachings; The Constitution of Pakistan 1973 is a complete and comprehensive document, which was adopted and passed with the concurrence of all strands of national opinion, and religions schools of thought. Therefore condemnation of the Constitution and the institutions of judiciary and parliament under it constitutes a clear violation of the Constitution, which cannot be tolerated at all. The Convention strongly condemns such behaviour; Acquisition of knowledge is mandatory on every Muslim without any discrimination of gender and the definitive text of the Holy Quran proves that considering the women education as un-Islamic and destruction of the educational institutions is a violation of the Islamic teachings and rejection of the text of the Holy Quran. The holder of such belief who insists upon such a backward value system is responsible for defamation of Islam; Suicide bombings on the innocent people are manifestly prohibited. Islam does not admit of them, rather it considers them an act of barbarism and terrorism. In the similar way, such acts as declaration of war against the army, security forces and law enforcement agencies of an Islamic state, killing of those having dissenting opinion and getting the demands fulfilled on gun-point are manifestly against Islam. The participants also strongly condemn such actions; Islam gives a guarantee for respect and dignity of women, provision of equal opportunity for their education, and ensuring their practical role in society. Contrary to these Islamic injunctions, there is no space for self-styled understanding of Islam; Those holding beliefs and ideology based on terrorism and extremism, rejection of democracy, violation of women rights, desecration of sacred religious places and shrines, mass-killing of humanity, suicide bombing, rebellion against the state institutions, violation of Constitution, occupation of cities by the armed men, and armed struggle against and Islamic state are only a minority group of Pakistan, who have nothing to do with Islam. This is rather a heinous conspiracy to defame Islam, and debunk its bright face. There's nothing I can do to correct it now. So you might have to skip this video, but I myself can hear the video perfectly with my speakers at 20% I think if you crank your speakers most people should be able to hear it.~~~ No more comments about not being able to hear the sound, thanks. In this lesson I explain basic harmony rules. Keep in mind, Harmony seems to have a steep learning curve but once you're over the hump it's not TOO bad. This stuff could feel pretty advanced if you haven't been involved in music for longer than a year. Either way, now is as good a time as any to start to learn if you've seen all my other previous lessons. Music Harmony can be fun! As well as singing baritone with moosebutter, Jeremiah has sung (has singed? has sang? sanguine?) screamy-high soprano with Vocal Point (not to be confused with Vocal Point or Vocal Point). Jeremiah one day hopes to actually talk to a woman. Richard * The Robot Richard used to sing with the college a cappella group Mile 21 from the University of Colorado. He currently sings with several pro a cappella groups, and makes furniture. Also, he is a ROBOT Peter * The crooner Peter likes to lay down with his ear on the ground until he hears a herd of something or a large something coming towards him, then he gets out of the way. He is a student at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He does tricks if you give him a milkshake. It has to be a really good milkshake. Today, with so much agony caused by violent conflict, war and bloodshed, the world badly needs peace and harmony. This is a great challenge for religious and spiritual leaders. Let us accept this challenge. Every religion has an outer form or shell, and an inner essence or core. The outer shell consists of rites, rituals, ceremonies, beliefs, myths and doctrines. These vary from one religion to another. But there is an inner core common to all religions: the universal teachings of morality and charity, of a disciplined and pure mind full of love, compassion, goodwill and tolerance. It is this common denominator that religious leaders ought to emphasize, and that religious adherents ought to practice. If proper importance is given to the essence of all religions and greater tolerance is shown for their superficial aspects, conflict can be minimized. All persons must be free to profess and follow their faith. In doing so, however, they must be careful not to neglect the practice of the essence of their religion, not to disturb others by their own religious practices, and not to condemn or belittle other faiths. Given the diversity of faiths, how do we surmount the differences and achieve a concrete plan for peace? The Buddha, the Enlightened One, was often approached by people of different views. To them he would say, "Let us set aside our differences. Let us give attention to what we can agree on, and let us put it into practice. Why quarrel?" That wise counsel still retains its worth today. I come from an ancient land that has given rise to many different schools of philosophy and spirituality over the millennia. Despite isolated instances of violence, my country has been a model of peaceful co-existence. Some 2300 years ago it was ruled by Ashoka the Great, whose empire extended from present-day Afghanistan to Bangladesh. Throughout his realm, this compassionate ruler caused edicts to be inscribed on stone, proclaiming that all faiths should be respected; and as a result, followers of all spiritual traditions felt secure under his sway. He asked people to live a moral life, to respect parents and elders, and to abstain from killing. The words in which he exhorted his subjects are still relevant today: One should not honor only one's own religion and condemn other religions. Instead, one should honor other religions for various reasons. By so doing one helps one's own religion to grow and also renders service to the religions of others. In acting otherwise one digs the grave of one's own religion and harms other religions as well. Someone who honors his own religion and condemns other religions may do so out of devotionto his religion, thinking, 'I will glorify my religion'; but his actions injure his own religion more gravely. Concord is good. Let all listen and be willing to listen to the doctrines professed by others. (Rock Edict12) Emperor Ashoka represents a glorious tradition of tolerant co-existence and peaceful synthesis. That tradition lives on among governments and rulers today. An example is the noble monarch of Oman, who has donated land for churches and temples of other faiths while practicing his own religion with all devotion and diligence. I am sure that such compassionate rulers and governments will continue to arise in future in many lands around the world. As it is said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." It is all too clear that the votaries of violence primarily hurt their own kith and kin. They may do so directly, through their intolerance, or indirectly, by provoking a violent response to their actions. Their shrines are the cultural symbols and enjoy sanctity. Their desecration and vandalizing is an outright anti-Islam acts. Therefore, such actions are condemned in the strongest possible words. Islam does not allow the desecration of religious places of other religions and all such activities amounting to the same are also considered against Islamic teachings; The Constitution of Pakistan 1973 is a complete and comprehensive document, which was adopted and passed with the concurrence of all strands of national opinion, and religions schools of thought. Therefore condemnation of the Constitution and the institutions of judiciary and parliament under it constitutes a clear violation of the Constitution, which cannot be tolerated at all. The Convention strongly condemns such behaviour; Acquisition of knowledge is mandatory on every Muslim without any discrimination of gender and the definitive text of the Holy Quran proves that considering the women education as un-Islamic and destruction of the educational institutions is a violation of the Islamic teachings and rejection of the text of the Holy Quran. The holder of such belief who insists upon such a backward value system is responsible for defamation of Islam; Suicide bombings on the innocent people are manifestly prohibited. Islam does not admit of them, rather it considers them an act of barbarism and terrorism. In the similar way, such acts as declaration of war against the army, security forces and law enforcement agencies of an Islamic state, killing of those having dissenting opinion and getting the demands fulfilled on gun-point are manifestly against Islam. The participants also strongly condemn such actions; Islam gives a guarantee for respect and dignity of women, provision of equal opportunity for their education, and ensuring their practical role in society. Contrary to these Islamic injunctions, there is no space for self-styled understanding of Islam; Those holding beliefs and ideology based on terrorism and extremism, rejection of democracy, violation of women rights, desecration of sacred religious places and shrines, mass-killing of humanity, suicide bombing, rebellion against the state institutions, violation of Constitution, occupation of cities by the armed men, and armed struggle against and Islamic state are only a minority group of Pakistan, who have nothing to do with Islam. This is rather a heinous conspiracy to defame Islam, and debunk its bright face. (this brief history brought to you by Glen's four year-old) moosebutter: a more conventional bio moosebutter is a four-man comedy a cappella group. They have won awards from the Contemporary A Cappella Society(Best Comedy Song, 2004), The Harmony Sweepstakes (2003 International Finals runners-up), had their music included on compilation albums (Doctor Demento Basement Tapes 2005, Sing II 2005) and played live shows in front of audiences around the United States. Their tight harmony and eclectic humor have charmed audiences through two albums and countless live performances. To handle all the performance requests they receive, moosebutter has several casts of performers. They perform with three, four, or five singers, depending on the show, and have done just about every kind of show you can imagine (Punk rock show? Check. National television? Check. Wedding reception? Check.). Chris * John Tesh's Worst Nightmare Although over-zealous fans frequently mistake him for the 9th Beatle, Chris is actually the 10th. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in music. He adds that elusive electro-funk-opera vocal sound that is so much of moosebutter's signature sound. Chris collects DVDs and, on special occasions, watches them. Chris is currently petitioning Fox to start the "American Idol: Older People" contest. Weston * The One-Man Marching Band Once called "A Mexican John Belushi" (Logan, Utah, March 19, 2004), Weston is not Mexican (half Argentinian), named John (he's from Cleveland, after all), or named Belushi (but he did for a while date a girl named Belushi - that was her only name, because she was a pop singer). Weston graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Marketing and Advertising. For employment he now does both, though not at the same time, and not for at least 45 minutes after eating a large meal. Weston is currently in a tree flinging empty pizza boxes at celebrities. Mister Tim * The Human Vending Machine Mister Tim sings in a kajillion a cappella groups and is also a one-man a cappella band, composer, teacher, and conductor. Mister Tim has a Bachelor of Arts degree, Vocal Performance emphasis, from the University of Utah, and studied for a Masters degree in Choral Conducting at the University of Colorado. Mister Tim is on the Board of Directors of the Contemporary A Cappella Society Mister Tim has children. Regularly. Glen * The Envy of Stupid People Everywhere A self-proclaimed Air Force BRAT, Glen is actually a nice guy. While at Brigham Young University he was integral in starting the group "Integral" and he broke the norm with his other group, "Norm." Be still my heart, I'm funny. Glen is a computer programmer, so if you get him angry and he goes nuts, don't say we didn't warn you. Glen is currently engaged in a staring contest with a ring-tailed kinkajou. Jeremiah * Calling him "the bald one" would be too easy You can call him "Jer"; you can call him "Jar"; just don't call him "Jar-Jar". As well as singing baritone with moosebutter, Jeremiah has sung (has singed? has sang? sanguine?) screamy-high soprano with Vocal Point (not to be confused with Vocal Point or Vocal Point). Jeremiah one day hopes to actually talk to a woman. Richard * The Robot Richard used to sing with the college a cappella group Mile 21 from the University of Colorado. He currently sings with several pro a cappella groups, and makes furniture. Also, he is a ROBOT Peter * The crooner Peter likes to lay down with his ear on the ground until he hears a herd of something or a large something coming towards him, then he gets out of the way. He is a student at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He does tricks if you give him a milkshake. It has to be a really good milkshake. Today, with so much agony caused by violent conflict, war and bloodshed, the world badly needs peace and harmony. This is a great challenge for religious and spiritual leaders. Let us accept this challenge. Every religion has an outer form or shell, and an inner essence or core. The outer shell consists of rites, rituals, ceremonies, beliefs, myths and doctrines. These vary from one religion to another. But there is an inner core common to all religions: the universal teachings of morality and charity, of a disciplined and pure mind full of love, compassion, goodwill and tolerance. It is this common denominator that religious leaders ought to emphasize, and that religious adherents ought to practice. If proper importance is given to the essence of all religions and greater tolerance is shown for their superficial aspects, conflict can be minimized. All persons must be free to profess and follow their faith. In doing so, however, they must be careful not to neglect the practice of the essence of their religion, not to disturb others by their own religious practices, and not to condemn or belittle other faiths. Given the diversity of faiths, how do we surmount the differences and achieve a concrete plan for peace? The Buddha, the Enlightened One, was often approached by people of different views. To them he would say, "Let us set aside our differences. Let us give attention to what we can agree on, and let us put it into practice. Why quarrel?" That wise counsel still retains its worth today. I come from an ancient land that has given rise to many different schools of philosophy and spirituality over the millennia. Despite isolated instances of violence, my country has been a model of peaceful co-existence. Some 2300 years ago it was ruled by Ashoka the Great, whose empire extended from present-day Afghanistan to Bangladesh. Throughout his realm, this compassionate ruler caused edicts to be inscribed on stone, proclaiming that all faiths should be respected; and as a result, followers of all spiritual traditions felt secure under his sway. He asked people to live a moral life, to respect parents and elders, and to abstain from killing. The words in which he exhorted his subjects are still relevant today: One should not honor only one's own religion and condemn other religions. Instead, one should honor other religions for various reasons. By so doing one helps one's own religion to grow and also renders service to the religions of others. In acting otherwise one digs the grave of one's own religion and harms other religions as well. Someone who honors his own religion and condemns other religions may do so out of devotionto his religion, thinking, 'I will glorify my religion'; but his actions injure his own religion more gravely. Concord is good. Let all listen and be willing to listen to the doctrines professed by others. (Rock Edict12) Emperor Ashoka represents a glorious tradition of tolerant co-existence and peaceful synthesis. That tradition lives on among governments and rulers today. An example is the noble monarch of Oman, who has donated land for churches and temples of other faiths while practicing his own religion with all devotion and diligence. I am sure that such compassionate rulers and governments will continue to arise in future in many lands around the world. As it is said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." It is all too clear that the votaries of violence primarily hurt their own kith and kin. They may do so directly, through their intolerance, or indirectly, by provoking a violent response to their actions. On the other hand, it is said, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." This is the law of nature. It may equally be called the decree or way of God. The Buddha said, "Animosity can be eradicated not by animosity but only by its opposite. This is an eternal Dharma [spiritual law]." What is called Dharma in India has nothing to do with Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism or any other "ism". It is this simple truth: before you harm others, you first harm yourself by generating mental negativity; and by removing the negativity, you can find peace within and strengthen peace in the world.
