UB40 - Red Red Wine By eaglerocktv UB40 are one of the most successful British acts of all time, with a huge string of hits on both sides of the Atlantic and around the globe. In the UK only three groups (The Beatles, Queen & The Shadows) can claim more hit singles and they've also clocked up 14 Top 10 albums. Queen - We Are The Champions By eaglerocktv In November 1981, with Under Pressure topping the charts in the UK, Queen arrived in Montreal following dates in Japan and their record-breaking tour of Latin America. It was to be the only concert by Queen that was ever shot on film. Always a great live band, with arguably the greatest frontman of all time in Freddie Mercury, they excelled themselves with the cameras rolling. The picture has been digitally restored from the original film and the sound has been newly mixed and mastered for DTS Surround Sound and PCM Stereo from the original multitrack tapes. Following their record-breaking South American tour, the Montreal shows on 24 and 25 November 1981 were to be the only concerts by Queen ever shot on film - indeed they were the first group to shoot an entire show in full cinema format 35mm. These releases offer the best ever sound and picture quality on a Queen concert release. Always a great live band, with two years non-stop touring behind them and Freddie Mercury in front of them, Queen excelled themselves with the cameras rolling. The footage has been digitally restored from the original film and the sound has been newly mixed and mastered for DTS Surround Sound and PCM Stereo from the original multi-track tapes. "Hello Montreal...long time no see. You wanna get crazy?" asks Freddie as the band tear into their alternative 'fast' version of We Will Rock You, and from there on Queen show their hard rock roots, slowing down only for Love of My Life and the more mid-tempo Under Pressure, notably being performed live for the first time in this concert. This is before the Hot Space album, before keyboards would find a place in the band's touring line up; this is simply four musicians in total cohesion. Originally titled, "We Will Rock You", this film was first launched at the Cannes Film Festival in May 1983 - as only Queen could. It was then released in North America (September 1984), becoming the first commercially available film of Queen in concert. For this special edition, the picture has been digitally restored from the original 35mm negative. The double disc release offers the incredible bonus of a slew of Live Aid features and performances. Regularly polled as the greatest live performance of all time, Queen's mighty Live Aid show at 6.44pm on July 13, 1985, is here in full. In addition to the set that reinforced Queen's position as unrivalled rock entertainers, Freddie and Brian's performance later in the evening of the poignant "Is This The World We Created" is included. Also featured are 11 minutes of never before seen Live Aid rehearsal footage, plus a rehearsal interview with the band. In addition, there's the curiosity value of a 1982 news feature from US TV series PM Magazine. Brian May and Roger Taylor bring the story up to date with a brand new audio commentary on the Montreal concert. Both these releases offer extraordinary footage of one if the greatest acts of all time, recorded at the height of the powers. Truly, Rock royalty. Disc one was filmed at the Grugahalle in Essen, Germany for the Rockpalast TV series. Hot on the heels of their classic Deguello album (it features 9 of the 10 songs from it) the show finds ZZ Top before sequencers and synthesizers epitomising their lil ol blues band from Texas nickname. Complimented by tracks drawn predominantly from their Tres Hombres and Fandango! albums this is a true best of ZZ Top in the seventies. Disc Two was shot during their European tour in 2008 and combines great live performances, interview clips and back stage footage to create the ultimate ZZ Top on the road movie. With nearly 30 years between the performances the two disc set gives a fascinating then and now insight into what has maintained the ZZ Top live phenomenon. Roy Orbison - Pretty Woman By eaglerocktv Roy Orbison began his career at Sun Studios alongside Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley but took a very different route to rock 'n' roll success. Orbison's strength was his unique vocal style, which combined perfectly with the dramatic love stories told by his songs. From his debut on Sun Records in 1956 Orbison at first struggled but went on to score a string of hit singles on Monument Records in the 60's following his breakthrough with Only The Lonely. Other hits included Running Scared, Crying, In Dreams, It's Over and his #1 Oh, Pretty Woman, all of which are included here. Despite a dip in his career in the 70's, Orbison came back to prominence in the 80's as part of the Traveling Wilburys in which he lined up alongside George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne. This in turn lead to a reinvigorated solo career cut short only by his early death in 1988. The show on this DVD was shot for the US TV series Austin City Limits in August 1982. It contains all of his best known songs and has been remixed into 5.1 sound from the original master tapes. It is an excellent concert that holds the audience enthralled from start to finish. Gary Moore & The Midnight Blues Band - Still Got The Blues By eaglerocktv Gary Moore is one of the best rock and blues guitarists ever to come out of Ireland. Born in Belfast he moved to Dublin in the late 60s joined a band called Skid Row and met Phil Lynott, who shortly after left to form Thin Lizzy. Moore stayed with Skid Row for three albums before joining Lynott briefly in Thin Lizzy. He then joined Colosseum II (which also featured Don Airey on keyboards) before going solo and having a huge hit with Parisenne Walkways, which featured Lynott on vocals. There to witness the event were members of Thin Lizzy from throughout the band's career.
