Se dice que varios artistas han llegado a plagiar a Eddie, entre ellos los vocalistas de Creed, Puddle of Mudd y Nickelback. Eddie tiene una hija, llamada Olivia, que nació el 11 de junio de 2004, con su novia Jill McCormick. Vedder estuvo casado anteriormente con Beth Liebling "bajista del grupo de jam rock Hovercraft" con la que se casó en Roma en 1994, y se separó en 2002. En una entrevista para el canal VH1 se le preguntó qué opinaba de su reciente éxito como solista, el éxito que ha mantenido Pearl Jam y la responsabilidad que tiene al ser una de las caras que miles de personas alrededor del mundo admiran, el respondió: "Yo no soy famoso, simplemente soy una persona que tiene la suerte de que sus pensamientos sean escuchados, no soy famoso, soy amante de la música, de la vida y de mi familia".
