How Earth Sounds from Space A NOTE TO EVERYONE POSTING HERE! ------------------------------- OK, first of all I had no idea this video was going to be this popular. Pretty exciting stuff. Anyways, there's alot of arguing on here about sound in space. Obviously sound needs a medium to pass through, to vibrate through so that it can carry the sound waves. Space has no air, and therefore cannot project sound in audible wave form. As it says in the description, these sounds are not from satellites zooming around the earth with a normal microphone. Sohpisticated instruments can detect the different sonic vibrations going on in the planet GENERALLY. So what you are hearing is not what it would be like if you just stuck an ear out the window of a space ship. First of all you would probably either die or go deaf in that ear for the rest of your life because of the pressure of the vaccum. What the remote sensors on the sattellite are doing is analyzing different radio frequencies coming off the surface of the earth and converting it into audible soundwaves for you and I to hear. So you're not hearing whales, you're not hearing cars or even wind. NASA's - GRAIL Mission Returns First Video of Moon's Far Side PASADENA, Calif. -- A camera aboard one of NASA's twin Gravity Recovery And Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) lunar spacecraft has returned its first unique view of the far side of the moon. MoonKAM, or Moon Knowledge Acquired by Middle school students, will be used by students nationwide to select lunar images for study. GRAIL consists of two identical spacecraft, recently named Ebb and Flow, each of which is equipped with a MoonKAM. The images were taken as part of a test of Ebb's MoonKAM on Jan. 19. The GRAIL project plans to test the MoonKAM aboard Flow at a later date. 2001: A Space Odyssey Recut (Part 1 of 6) THE DAWN OF MAN I myself had no problem with the way the original "2001: A Space Odyssey" was. But I've been seeing some negative reviews that some people have made about this movie not making any sense or being too long. All I have to say to them is that this movie was released in 1968 during a time where there didn't need to be quick cuts and an explosion happening every 10 seconds. Today's a.d.d. generation just doesn't appreciate the way movies were made 30, 40, 50+ years ago. So I decided to do a complete edit of the whole movie. I must have cut out AT LEAST HALF of the footage of the original movie. So hopefully by doing this I can get people who never watched the whole movie or fell asleep from watching it, to watch the whole movie within a hours time. I edited this 2 and a half hour epic down to about an hour. (58+ mins) And put the film into a 6 chapter story.
