This song is written and composed by Shankar Jaikishan. It was originally sung by Mukesh in the 1960 Hindi film "Yehudi". Niyaz - Beni Beni! The Track "Beni Beni" is taken from Niyaz second Album (Disc 1) "Nine Heavens" (2008). On their sophomore release, Niyaz continues to bridge the gap between traditional and modern world music. This double CD reveals a complex body of work. Nine Heavens features intricately carved new arrangements of traditional folk songs as well as original compositions utilizing mystical Sufi poems from Iran, the Indian sub-continent and Turkey. Listen and enjoy it. Track "Beni Beni" - Turkish poetry by Asik Dertli (18th century). This is a traditional melody from the Maras region in Turkey set to the sacred poetry of Ashik Dertli who was an Alevi-Bektashi folk minstrel. Alevism.Bektashism is a Sufi tradition which is based on the reality is to be one with God. In this poem Ashik Dertli is conversing with about his existence in this world. He speaks of how all creation has emerged from him yet much turmoil has been created for his soul. He questions why he has been placed here and ask for assistance to fulfill his greatest desire which in union with the divine. About NIYAZ: "Niyaz (pronounced NEE-ahz) is an acoustic electronic project brings together members of VAS and AXIOM OF CHOICE to form an exciting new fusion of Persian and Indian influenced music with modern electronics.
