They continue to play live to vast crowds and have record sales in the millions. This concert from Montreux in 2004 is their only performance at the festival to date. It was to be one of the last shows to feature the band's original line-up with guitarist Brian Welch leaving the group a few months later. The normally reserved Montreux crowd is transformed by Korn into seething, rocking mass with the largest (& probably the first!) mosh pit ever seen in the famous Stravinski Auditorium. Kougioumtzis & Dalaras - Mi Mou Thimonis Matia Mou Stavros Kougioumtzis (1932-2005), from Thessalonica, one of the greatest greek composers of all times, composed this song "Mi mou thimonis matia mou" (Don't be angry with me, dear) in the 60s. Thessalonica was his great love and Stavros walked a lot with his frainds, he knew every corner there. In the afternoons, Stavros used to go for a walk down the coast, meet his fraind and talk, so some day going usually on foot he passed by a friend who had a record shop. He told a Stavros, "I want you to listen a new song". It was the song "Ime aitos horis ftera" (I'm an eagle without wings) with music by Manos Hadjidakis, lyricks by Efthia Papagiannopoulou, singed by Grigoris Bithikotsis in 1963. He was so excited by the structure and tension of the song, that he felt lika doing something about it. Luckily, the friend he was to meet came half an hour late, so his own excitment and his friend's delay, were the reasons that both, the music and the lyrics was written in just a half an hour, during a walk along the coast. He first recorded the choral song 1964 and the song was initially titled "Apoheretismos" (Farewell). Second recording of the song was at 1965. Alekos Patsifas had made the music comapny "Lyra". He believed in Stavros, so he signed him to Lyra. They decided that those choral songs should also be sung solo. They began with "Mi mou thimonis matia mou". The title was selected by Patsifas and Giannis Poulopoulos was the singer. It did became the success at the time, as a song of "Neo Kyma" (New wave) music style. But since the original was too big for a 45 RPM record, he had to speed it up a little. Also the bouzoukis were electric ones. "I recall when, in 1968 the president of "Minos" music company M.Matsas called me about the new singer he would send me, an amezing singer. When i opened the door, I was met with surprise. An 18, 19 years old kid, shy, skinny, he didn't look like a singer to me, at least not a singer like the one I had created in my imagination through Matsas description. When we went to the piano, I was met with a second surprise, that young kid had a very mature voice, a sesnitivity, it was like he had be singing since the very first years of his life. That young singer was Giorgios Dalaras." - Stavros Kougioumtzis Stavros finally did what he wanted in 1974, when he included the song "Mi mou thimonis matia mou" in the LP "Sta psila ta parathria" (At the high windows), there he had the chance to strech the song, and also open it with amazing bouzuki improvisation by Hristos Nikolopoulos. In this form the song was then loved by everyone. An English translation of the song (music and lyrics by Stavros Kougioumtzis): Don't be angry with me, dear, for leaving abroad. I'll become a bird and come back to you. Open your window, my blonde basil, and wish me goodnight with a sweet smile on your face. Don't be angry with me, dear, now that I'll go away from you. It was to be the only concert by Queen that was ever shot on film. Always a great live band, with arguably the greatest frontman of all time in Freddie Mercury, they excelled themselves with the cameras rolling. The picture has been digitally restored from the original film and the sound has been newly mixed and mastered for DTS Surround Sound and PCM Stereo from the original multitrack tapes. Following their record-breaking South American tour, the Montreal shows on 24 and 25 November 1981 were to be the only concerts by Queen ever shot on film - indeed they were the first group to shoot an entire show in full cinema format 35mm. These releases offer the best ever sound and picture quality on a Queen concert release. Always a great live band, with two years non-stop touring behind them and Freddie Mercury in front of them, Queen excelled themselves with the cameras rolling. The footage has been digitally restored from the original film and the sound has been newly mixed and mastered for DTS Surround Sound and PCM Stereo from the original multi-track tapes. "Hello Montreal...long time no see. For this special edition, the picture has been digitally restored from the original 35mm negative. The double disc release offers the incredible bonus of a slew of Live Aid features and performances. Regularly polled as the greatest live performance of all time, Queen's mighty Live Aid show at 6.44pm on July 13, 1985, is here in full. In addition to the set that reinforced Queen's position as unrivalled rock entertainers, Freddie and Brian's performance later in the evening of the poignant "Is This The World We Created" is included. Also featured are 11 minutes of never before seen Live Aid rehearsal footage, plus a rehearsal interview with the band. In addition, there's the curiosity value of a 1982 news feature from US TV series PM Magazine. Brian May and Roger Taylor bring the story up to date with a brand new audio commentary on the Montreal concert. There is a fascinating progression from one year to the next as she grows in confidence and skill as a live performer, buoyed by the critical and commercial success of the album. Naturally most of the songs are taken from "Little Earthquakes" but there are also rare songs from her various EPs released across the two years which didn't make it onto the album including her distinctive takes on Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" and "Thank You" and Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit". AK-47 vs AR-15 Part 5, by Nutnfancy PART 5 of 5: Nutnfancy tackling the often controversial issue of the AK-47 versus AR-15 rifle systems. The bottom line is, a quality example of either gun can serve your law enforcement, military, and "civilian sheepdog" requirements admirably. However many factors and considerations should come into play when selecting your choice. When properly maintained and lubricated, the AR-15 is very reliable contrary to many internet, forum, and magazine myths. However it does not rise to the absolute, carefree ruggedness and reliability of the AK design. Whether packed in mud, neglected for cleaning, or just plain thrashed upon, the AK shrugs it all off and continues to shuck rounds with pleasing and life-saving regularity. It is better than the AR-15 system in that regard. It also features a lightning quick and easy fieldstrip. However the AK design has many flaws which include: poorer ergonomics (like its munchkin length of pull), shorter sight radius and inferior sights, heavier magazines and ammunition, difficulty in mounting optics (less variety in application too), slower operational controls, and more recoil. But many accept these shortcomings to gain the increase in stopping power of the larger .30 caliber round. As shown in the video, this 7.62x39mm round pretty much dies after 300 yards but within its range, it hits hard and defeats obstacles much better than the smaller 5.56x45mm offering. However the AR-15 can easily be had in either a 6.5 SPC or Grendel chambering which nullifies this advantage (and the AK can be had in the 5.45x39mm load which has similar ballistics to the 5.56). Both systems enjoy adequate firepower, multitudes of accessory options, good service record (AK has better reliability record however), and similar value (subject to change). I respect the reliability, simplicity, ruggedness, and shooting fun of the AK design. For a "mud gun," it still reigns supreme. However in terms of ergonomics, its amazing versatility, the lighter weight of mags and ammo, superior accuracy, and the longer range capabilities (especially with 77 gr loads), the AR-15 is a more capable weapons system.
