Markus Gürne, Korrespondent im ARD-Studio Neu Delhi, hat Ärzte und Pfleger der der Bundeswehr bei ihrem Einsatz begleitet. Das deutsche Feldlazarett, ausgestattet wie ein kleines Kreiskrankenhaus hier zu Lande, ist die einzige Klinik im weiten Norden Afghanistans, zuständig nicht nur für die Truppen der Bundeswehr, sondern für die gesamte internationale Schutztruppe in der Region. Jeden Monat werden hunderte Soldaten schwer verletzt in Feuergefechten, durch versteckte Sprengladungen und Raketenangriffe. Die Rettungskette läuft wie ein Uhrwerk, alle wissen, was tun ist. Bei den vielen Verwundeten muss oft in Sekundenschnelle entschieden werden, wer als erster behandelt wird. Eine Entscheidung, die über Leben oder Tod richten kann.
