Therefore this Convention condemns all acts of terrorism perpetuated in the name of Islam and dubs them as anti-Islam; Sufis have been playing key role in the construction of peaceful society, promotion of peace and harmony and propagation of Islam in every age. Their shrines are the cultural symbols and enjoy sanctity. Their desecration and vandalizing is an outright anti-Islam acts. Therefore, such actions are condemned in the strongest possible words. Islam does not allow the desecration of religious places of other religions and all such activities amounting to the same are also considered against Islamic teachings; The Constitution of Pakistan 1973 is a complete and comprehensive document, which was adopted and passed with the concurrence of all strands of national opinion, and religions schools of thought. Therefore condemnation of the Constitution and the institutions of judiciary and parliament under it constitutes a clear violation of the Constitution, which cannot be tolerated at all. The Convention strongly condemns such behaviour; Acquisition of knowledge is mandatory on every Muslim without any discrimination of gender and the definitive text of the Holy Quran proves that considering the women education as un-Islamic and destruction of the educational institutions is a violation of the Islamic teachings and rejection of the text of the Holy Quran. The holder of such belief who insists upon such a backward value system is responsible for defamation of Islam; Suicide bombings on the innocent people are manifestly prohibited. Islam does not admit of them, rather it considers them an act of barbarism and terrorism. In the similar way, such acts as declaration of war against the army, security forces and law enforcement agencies of an Islamic state, killing of those having dissenting opinion and getting the demands fulfilled on gun-point are manifestly against Islam. The participants also strongly condemn such actions; Islam gives a guarantee for respect and dignity of women, provision of equal opportunity for their education, and ensuring their practical role in society. Contrary to these Islamic injunctions, there is no space for self-styled understanding of Islam; Those holding beliefs and ideology based on terrorism and extremism, rejection of democracy, violation of women rights, desecration of sacred religious places and shrines, mass-killing of humanity, suicide bombing, rebellion against the state institutions, violation of Constitution, occupation of cities by the armed men, and armed struggle against and Islamic state are only a minority group of Pakistan, who have nothing to do with Islam. This is rather a heinous conspiracy to defame Islam, and debunk its bright face. The raucous festival dates back to 767 when the local governor of Owari (present-day Aichi Prefecture) instigated the festival in an attempt to ward off a plague epidemic sweeping the country. The festival has a number of stages. On the second day of the lunar new year a post marked with the words "naoi shinji" is set up outside Konomiya Shrine. An hour later at 10am a group of applicants arrive in the hope of being chosen as that year's shin-otoko or ("god-man"). To be selected as shin-otoko is considered a great honor, though a dubious one in most people's eyes in view of what is to follow. A huge 4-ton rice-cake (mochi) is prepared and is presented to the shin-otoko on the eve of the main festival. For three days prior to the start of the matsuri the shin-otoko is kept alone, enclosed in a small hall in Konomiya Shrine. He is fed only rice-gruel and water and has all his body hair shaved off as part of the purification rite. The festival begins in mid-afternoon on the 13th day of the lunar new year when thousands of men dressed only in loincloths carry a bamboo pole covered with pieces of paper carrying the excuses of people who couldn't make it to the festival that year. When the shin-otoko appears from the shrine the assembled men - many of them aged 23 or 42 (ages considered unlucky or yakudoshi) - converge on the shin-otoko in an effort to touch him and thus pass on their bad luck and so rid themselves of evil. The shin-otoko's guards, who attempt to stop him getting killed in the crush, throw cold water on the crowds to help cool things down. The event can be dangerous and people have suffered injuries in the past. At 3am the next morning the shin-otoko carrying a "mud cake" on his back - symbolizing bad luck and calamity is chased away from the shrine and the mud cake is buried by the shrine priests. This part of the festival is known as yonaoi shinji. Later that morning the large rice cake presented earlier is cut up and distributed to worshippers. "Our revolution is endangering all American possessions in Latin America. We are telling these countries to make their own revolution." — Che Guevara, October 1962 Castro later travelled to the United States to explain his revolution. He said, "I know what the world thinks of us, we are Communists, and of course I have said very clearly that we are not Communists; very clearly." Hundreds of suspected Batista-era agents, policemen and soldiers were put on public trial for human rights abuses and war crimes, including murder and torture. Most of those convicted in revolutionary tribunals of political crimes were executed by firing squad, and the rest received long prison sentences. One of the most notorious examples of revolutionary justice was the execution of over 70 captured Batista regime soldiers, directed by Raúl Castro after the capture of Santiago. For his part in Havana, Che Guevara was appointed supreme prosecutor in La Cabaña Fortress. This was part of a large-scale attempt by Fidel Castro to cleanse the security forces of Batista loyalists and potential opponents of the new revolutionary regime. Others were fortunate enough to be dismissed from the army and police without prosecution, and some high-ranking officials in the ancien régime were exiled as military attachés. In 1961, after the US-backed Bay of Pigs Invasion, the new Cuban government nationalized all property held by religious organizations, including the dominant Roman Catholic Church. Hundreds of members of the church, including a bishop, were permanently expelled from the nation, with the new Cuban government being declared officially atheist. Faria describes how the education of children changed as Cuba officially became an atheist state: private schools were banned and the progressively socialist state assumed greater responsibility for children. According to geographer and Cuban Comandante Antonio Núñez Jiménez, 75% of Cuba's best arable land was owned by foreign individuals or foreign (mostly U.S.) companies. One of the first policies of the newly formed Cuban government was eliminating illiteracy and implementing land reforms. Land reform efforts helped to raise living standards by subdividing larger holdings into cooperatives. Comandante Sori Marin, nominally in charge of land reform, objected and fled, but was eventually executed. Many other non-Marxist, anti-Batista rebel leaders were forced in to exile, purged in executions, or eliminated in failed uprisings such as that of the Beaton brothers. Shortly after taking power, Castro also created a Revolutionary militia to expand his power base among the former rebels and the supportive population. Castro also initiated Committees for the Defense of the Revolution or CDRs in late September 1960. Government informants became rampant within the population. CDRs were tasked with keeping "vigilance against counter-revolutionary activity." Local CDRs were also tasked with keeping a detailed record of each neighborhood's inhabitants' spending habits, level of contact with foreigners, work and education history, and any "suspicious" behavior. One of the persecuted groups were homosexual men. The Cuban dissident and exile Reinaldo Arenas wrote about such persecution in his autobiography, "Antes Que Anochezca", the basis for the film Before Night Falls. In February 1959, the Ministry for the Recovery of Misappropriated Assets (Ministerio de Recuperación de Bienes Malversados) was created. Cuba began expropriating land and private property under the auspices of the Agrarian Reform Law of 17 May 1959. Cuban lawyer Mario Lazo writes that farms of any size could be and were seized by the government. Land, businesses, and companies owned by upper- and middle-class Cubans were also nationalized, including the plantations owned by Fidel Castro's family. By the end of 1960, the revolutionary government had nationalized more than $25 billion worth of private property owned by Cubans. Cuba also nationalized all foreign-owned property, particularly American holdings, in the nation on 6 August 1960. The United States, in turn, responded by freezing all Cuban assets in the United States, severing diplomatic ties, and tightening the embargo on Cuba, which is still in place as of 2011. Therefore this Convention condemns all acts of terrorism perpetuated in the name of Islam and dubs them as anti-Islam; Sufis have been playing key role in the construction of peaceful society, promotion of peace and harmony and propagation of Islam in every age. Their shrines are the cultural symbols and enjoy sanctity. Their desecration and vandalizing is an outright anti-Islam acts. Therefore, such actions are condemned in the strongest possible words. Islam does not allow the desecration of religious places of other religions and all such activities amounting to the same are also considered against Islamic teachings; The Constitution of Pakistan 1973 is a complete and comprehensive document, which was adopted and passed with the concurrence of all strands of national opinion, and religions schools of thought. Therefore condemnation of the Constitution and the institutions of judiciary and parliament under it constitutes a clear violation of the Constitution, which cannot be tolerated at all. The Convention strongly condemns such behaviour; Acquisition of knowledge is mandatory on every Muslim without any discrimination of gender and the definitive text of the Holy Quran proves that considering the women education as un-Islamic and destruction of the educational institutions is a violation of the Islamic teachings and rejection of the text of the Holy Quran. The holder of such belief who insists upon such a backward value system is responsible for defamation of Islam; Suicide bombings on the innocent people are manifestly prohibited. Islam does not admit of them, rather it considers them an act of barbarism and terrorism. In the similar way, such acts as declaration of war against the army, security forces and law enforcement agencies of an Islamic state, killing of those having dissenting opinion and getting the demands fulfilled on gun-point are manifestly against Islam. The participants also strongly condemn such actions; Islam gives a guarantee for respect and dignity of women, provision of equal opportunity for their education, and ensuring their practical role in society. Contrary to these Islamic injunctions, there is no space for self-styled understanding of Islam; Those holding beliefs and ideology based on terrorism and extremism, rejection of democracy, violation of women rights, desecration of sacred religious places and shrines, mass-killing of humanity, suicide bombing, rebellion against the state institutions, violation of Constitution, occupation of cities by the armed men, and armed struggle against and Islamic state are only a minority group of Pakistan, who have nothing to do with Islam. This is rather a heinous conspiracy to defame Islam, and debunk its bright face. The raucous festival dates back to 767 when the local governor of Owari (present-day Aichi Prefecture) instigated the festival in an attempt to ward off a plague epidemic sweeping the country. The festival has a number of stages. On the second day of the lunar new year a post marked with the words "naoi shinji" is set up outside Konomiya Shrine. An hour later at 10am a group of applicants arrive in the hope of being chosen as that year's shin-otoko or ("god-man"). To be selected as shin-otoko is considered a great honor, though a dubious one in most people's eyes in view of what is to follow. A huge 4-ton rice-cake (mochi) is prepared and is presented to the shin-otoko on the eve of the main festival. For three days prior to the start of the matsuri the shin-otoko is kept alone, enclosed in a small hall in Konomiya Shrine. He is fed only rice-gruel and water and has all his body hair shaved off as part of the purification rite. The festival begins in mid-afternoon on the 13th day of the lunar new year when thousands of men dressed only in loincloths carry a bamboo pole covered with pieces of paper carrying the excuses of people who couldn't make it to the festival that year. When the shin-otoko appears from the shrine the assembled men - many of them aged 23 or 42 (ages considered unlucky or yakudoshi) - converge on the shin-otoko in an effort to touch him and thus pass on their bad luck and so rid themselves of evil. The shin-otoko's guards, who attempt to stop him getting killed in the crush, throw cold water on the crowds to help cool things down. The event can be dangerous and people have suffered injuries in the past. At 3am the next morning the shin-otoko carrying a "mud cake" on his back - symbolizing bad luck and calamity is chased away from the shrine and the mud cake is buried by the shrine priests. This part of the festival is known as yonaoi shinji. Later that morning the large rice cake presented earlier is cut up and distributed to worshippers. "Our revolution is endangering all American possessions in Latin America. We are telling these countries to make their own revolution." — Che Guevara, October 1962 Castro later travelled to the United States to explain his revolution. He said, "I know what the world thinks of us, we are Communists, and of course I have said very clearly that we are not Communists; very clearly." Hundreds of suspected Batista-era agents, policemen and soldiers were put on public trial for human rights abuses and war crimes, including murder and torture. Most of those convicted in revolutionary tribunals of political crimes were executed by firing squad, and the rest received long prison sentences. One of the most notorious examples of revolutionary justice was the execution of over 70 captured Batista regime soldiers, directed by Raúl Castro after the capture of Santiago. For his part in Havana, Che Guevara was appointed supreme prosecutor in La Cabaña Fortress. This was part of a large-scale attempt by Fidel Castro to cleanse the security forces of Batista loyalists and potential opponents of the new revolutionary regime. Others were fortunate enough to be dismissed from the army and police without prosecution, and some high-ranking officials in the ancien régime were exiled as military attachés. In 1961, after the US-backed Bay of Pigs Invasion, the new Cuban government nationalized all property held by religious organizations, including the dominant Roman Catholic Church. Hundreds of members of the church, including a bishop, were permanently expelled from the nation, with the new Cuban government being declared officially atheist. Faria describes how the education of children changed as Cuba officially became an atheist state: private schools were banned and the progressively socialist state assumed greater responsibility for children. According to geographer and Cuban Comandante Antonio Núñez Jiménez, 75% of Cuba's best arable land was owned by foreign individuals or foreign (mostly U.S.) companies. One of the first policies of the newly formed Cuban government was eliminating illiteracy and implementing land reforms. Land reform efforts helped to raise living standards by subdividing larger holdings into cooperatives. Comandante Sori Marin, nominally in charge of land reform, objected and fled, but was eventually executed. Many other non-Marxist, anti-Batista rebel leaders were forced in to exile, purged in executions, or eliminated in failed uprisings such as that of the Beaton brothers. Shortly after taking power, Castro also created a Revolutionary militia to expand his power base among the former rebels and the supportive population. Castro also initiated Committees for the Defense of the Revolution or CDRs in late September 1960. Government informants became rampant within the population. CDRs were tasked with keeping "vigilance against counter-revolutionary activity." Local CDRs were also tasked with keeping a detailed record of each neighborhood's inhabitants' spending habits, level of contact with foreigners, work and education history, and any "suspicious" behavior. One of the persecuted groups were homosexual men. The Cuban dissident and exile Reinaldo Arenas wrote about such persecution in his autobiography, "Antes Que Anochezca", the basis for the film Before Night Falls. In February 1959, the Ministry for the Recovery of Misappropriated Assets (Ministerio de Recuperación de Bienes Malversados) was created. Cuba began expropriating land and private property under the auspices of the Agrarian Reform Law of 17 May 1959. Cuban lawyer Mario Lazo writes that farms of any size could be and were seized by the government. Land, businesses, and companies owned by upper- and middle-class Cubans were also nationalized, including the plantations owned by Fidel Castro's family. By the end of 1960, the revolutionary government had nationalized more than $25 billion worth of private property owned by Cubans. Cuba also nationalized all foreign-owned property, particularly American holdings, in the nation on 6 August 1960. The United States, in turn, responded by freezing all Cuban assets in the United States, severing diplomatic ties, and tightening the embargo on Cuba, which is still in place as of 2011.
