Homemade Full Metal Air Gun This is a weekend project of mine. Its a piston valve barrel sealer with a 1/2" ball valve pilot. The parts are made out of brass an steel. The pressure chamber is an emptied fire extinguisher rated to 18,5 bar ~ 270 psi. The piston is made out of hot glue. NO BACKGROUND MUSIC: sorry had to remove due to copyright infringement. World's Largest Mine - Bingham Canyon Copper Open Pit Mine This is one massive hole. Here's text from the current wiki: The Bingham Canyon Mine is an open-pit mining operation extracting a large porphyry copper deposit southwest of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, in the Oquirrh Mountains. It is owned by Rio Tinto, an international mining and exploration company headquartered in the United Kingdom. The copper operations at Bingham Canyon Mine are managed through Kennecott Utah Copper Corporation which operates the mine, a concentrator plant, a smelter, and a refinery. The mine has been in production since 1906, and has resulted in the creation of a pit over 0.75 mile (1.2 km) deep, 2.5 miles (4 km) wide, and covering 1,900 acres (7.7 km²). According to Kennecott, it is the world's largest man-made excavation. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966 under the name Bingham Canyon Open Pit Copper Mine. These Hearts Are On Fire The Heart shape has become almost traditional in the tiny world of homopolar motors. Here, two unique wire-form hearts show some surprising twists, then unite to become one in the final embrace. There are actually four examples of homopolar motors in this video, including one with the apparatus upside down! The homopolar motor works by the Lorentz principle. Current flowing through the copper wire makes a magnetic field, which interacts with the magnetic field of the neodymium magnet, producing torque on the wire. This homopolar motor video is dedicated to the cool band Wolf Parade, and to "All Hearts on fire everywhere." To appropriate background music, with the blessing of Wolf Parade, "This Heart's On Fire" from "Apologies To The Queen Mary" album. Thanks to my step-son, Hadji, a member of the band. Note: The entire soundtrack was stripped from this video in August 2010 by WMG, (Warner Music Group) three years after the video was put on Youtube. ***Music Update Feb 2011: Folks can switch this video's res setting to 240p from 360p to hear the music. Weird but true! My step-son is in the band, and I used the song with his permission.
