FSX: From 9 fps to 33 fps - Serious Performance Increases By SSSCLimitedTrademark =====IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS===== Since an installer is now available, and there is no need to convert the textures manually, I have deleted the instructions on how to convert the textures manually. Many people simply refused to pay close attention to my instructions, and kept asking me how to convert, etcetera, when the installer was already available, and the strings of messages became quite repetitive. Now, I believe, the instructions are a lot less confusing for the average user. However, please leave a comment, if you would like the manual conversion instructions to be re-inserted into the Instructions column. ------------------- Many thanks to WhiskeyMike from FSWC for making the converted files available for download here on Youtube. http://www.mileswebsolutions.com/FSXT... The password to the RAR files is whiskeymike. Use a program like 7-Zip or WinRAR to select all 4 downloaded parts and extract them into one installer. Be sure to make proper backups before running the installer. ==UPDATES== 3-18-08: I have tested and found that converting the main FSX\Texture DDS files are safe to do as well, and boosts another 8+ FPS to your FSX experience. Once again, almost no detail in the textures are lost. 12-30-08: Due to some distorted textures being reported such as jetways and bridges, it may also be recommended to do the conversions in DXT3 format. This will not distort the quality of some textures. But then again, my recommendation is to replace the distorted textures with the original DXT5 ones so that the bulk of the textures are still in DXT1 format. I hope this helps. 1-26-09: Many thanks for WhiskeyMike from FSWC for uploading the converted files for everyone to download here off of my Youtube video page. This will ease many individuals' work time and be a more efficient method to providing converted textures to FSX users. 5-02-09: I have deleted my instructions on converting the textures manually, since it had sparked a lot of confusion between members who chose not to carefully read the instructions. 5-25-09: I reinstated the section to clarify which folders within the FSX\Scenery directory. This will clear up some confusion. 6-23-09: Installer was Out Of Service. Reinstated manual conversion instructions until the problem can be properly addressed. 6-24-09: Installer Service back online. And finally, don't feel miserable if you don't understand something. ISLAM Y LA MUJER, CONFERENCIA sobre ASESINATOS POR HONOR By conocerlaverdad Estados islámicos fomentan "asesinatos por honor" ¿De qué hablamos cuando hablamos de muerte por honor? Los "asesinatos por honor" se cometen frecuentemente frente a supuestas violaciones de códigos morales, particularmente en casos de adulterio, según activistas de derechos humanos. Las mujeres son las principales víctimas. La negativa a aceptar matrimonios arreglados o relacionarse con hombres que la familia no aprueba también puede costarles la vida. Se ignora cuántos "asesinatos por honor" se cometen cada año. "No hay estadísticas. La mayoría se producen en áreas rurales, donde no existen partidas de nacimiento o certificados de defunción. Pero puedo asegurar que al menos 5.000 y hasta más de 10.000 se cometen anualmente y no en una sola nación, sino en más de 54 países", dijo a IPS Diana Nammi, fundadora de la Campaña Internacional contra los "Asesinatos por Honor", con sede en Londres. "En las comunidades kurdas de Irán, pero especialmente Iraq, se han vuelto una especie de epidemia", señaló Nammi, quien es de ascendencia kurda y vivió en ambos países antes de radicarse en Londres hace una década. Según algunos informes, el aumento del fundamentalismo islámico en Medio Oriente y el mundo árabe, frecuentemente relacionado con las invasiones de Afganistán en 2001 e Iraq, no sería ajeno a los más recientes "asesinatos por honor". En Siria se cometen alrededor de 40 cada año, según Kadi. En Irak, una joven de 19 años fue asesinada por sus familiares por tener el número de teléfono de un desconocido (para ellos) en su celular. En la ciudad israelí de Ramleh, el deseo de libertad de Nadia Abu Amar no pudo ser tolerado por su propia familia. Ni siquiera el hecho de haber escapado a un refugio para mujeres en Jerusalem pudo salvarla de ser asesinada por sus parientes varones para salvar el honor de la familia. El jefe de policía regional que investigó el caso de Nadia en Ramleh, indicó que incluso si una mujer árabe habla por su teléfono celular o le sonríe al hombre se considera que ha violado el honor de su familia. Casos como estos se repiten a diario en todo Medio Oriente. Cientos de mujeres y niñas son asesinadas cada año por sus familiares, que consideran que han hecho un mal uso de su sexualidad. Además, gran parte de estos crímenes no se denuncian, ya que se consideran asuntos familiares privados. Esta arraigada costumbre proviene de las poderosas y estrictas normas tribales pre-islámicas del mundo árabe, según las cuales la mujer es reponsable por la decencia de su familia y su grupo social, y los hombres deben defenderla a cualquier precio. Una mujer o niña deben pagar con su vida cualquier deshonor y son las únicas responsables de la protección de su virginidad. La pérdida de la virginidad, considerada el bien más preciado, en cualquier incidente que no sea un buen matrimonio, conduce inevitablemente a la muerte. Incluso víctimas de violación han sido castigadas, ya que no importa si la virginidad o el honor se perdieron con o sin consentimiento de la mujer. Entendidos en la materia que interpretan el Islam desprovistos de fanatismo aseguran que es sorprendente que las familias justifiquen los asesinatos por honor en nombre del Islam , ya que no es posible encontrar una sola norma o precepto que así lo mande. Para el caso de adulterio , explican, el Islam tiene previsto un procedimiento legal y describe todos sus pasos, pero en ningún momento contempla el asesinato. Las mujeres, víctimas de las circunstancias políticas El sitio web CSMonitor informa que desde que comenzaran los enfrentamientos entre las facciones palestinas Hamás que domina de facto la Franja de Gaza y Al Fatah al frente de la Autoridad Nacional Palestina han aumentado notablemente los asesinatos por honor de mujeres palestinas. Debido a la continua violencia entre las partes, a la falta de recursos y de conocimientos, la Autoridad Palestina no ha sido capaz de desarrollar un marco coherente y constructivo para luchar contra los asesinatos por honor y, en general, contra la violencia que padecen las mujeres. En general, y en toda la región, puede señalarse la complicidad por medio del silencio y la inacción de políticos y legisladores ante la vigencia de las leyes tribales fundamentalistas. Se puede concluir, entonces, que a menos que exista una reforma social endógena de los conservadores dentro de las sociedades, islámicas y no islámicas, cualquier esfuerzo externo e incluso legal será inútil. Así las cosas, las mujeres viven bajo un régimen de miedo y opresión incluso en el ámbito donde deberían sentirse más cómodas, respetadas y tranquilas: el hogar y la familia. Y los asesinos, no sólo caminan libremente sin que nadie se atreva a cuestionar sus crímenes, sino que se consideran defensores del honor y la justicia.
