[View \| Download]	Picking Warm Up for Guitar - Stacking Chromatic Intervals This is a warm up exercise intended to help with single-note improvisation, technique, and melodic versatility. This lesson will probably be most useful to guitarists who are already very comfortable with most of the basic improvisational building blocks - seven note scales (major, minor, melodic minor, etc), pentatonic scales, triad arpeggios, and seventh chord arpeggios. While most guitar warm ups seem to be just scale patterns or finger patterns that have a lot of repetition, this exercise is intended to get the guitarist ready and comfortable for a wide variety of musical situations - chromaticism, scales, arpeggios, 4ths, 5ths, large interval jumps, etc. I approach all of it first with traditional alternate picking and then with a mix of slurs and 'economy picking.' The whole exercise takes about five to ten minutes once you get the hang of it. I've been doing it every day and have found it very helpful!
