Are cellphones killing bees? CCD: Colony Collapse Disorder has been ravaging bee colonies around the world. If it continues, some people are worried that it will wipe out the honeybee, seriously affecting our eco-system. The Independent recently reported that cellphones & celltowers might be the cause! Is this true? Or is this just inflammatory journalism? NOTE: Many bee experts are still doubtful that CCD is actually occuring. Many attribute it to regular patterns of die-off, habitat invasion, retirement of beekeepers, etc. According to wikipedia, Landau University has now disavowed the newspaper article. Plus, CCD Hives have NOT been found among hobbyists (who WOULD tend to be in areas of heavy cellphone use). The theory Landau U gave for WHY they thought phones would cause problems has been labeled as JUNK SCIENCE by many. Wikipedia seems to be the best source of online information on this.
