Garbage letters, symbols: Wires are probably in contact with another (you can put a piece of paper or newspaper in between the pins to prevent them from touching. Also, check for loose wires! Arrow instead F3 T prompt: Switch RX/TX wires on the hard drive. Close Hyperterminal and create a new session again. My PC specs: Windows XP Home Professional/Service Pack 3 (Will work on Win7 with putty and downloaded versions of Hyperterminal) CA-42: Made in China. Serial#:WTO48000317 Why use the CA-42? Can I use a different cable? Please do not ask me if your cable will work or not, I honestly do not know. The CA-42 is a tested and verified working cable that has been successful in recovery. No Response in Hyperterminal: GND cable is either loose/detached or connected to the wrong pin.
