Ben Harper's Oppression; A Xicano Interpretation

A powerful song, and I can only hope that I have not taken anything away from it. A statement on the oppression of different peoples, with a special focus on Mexican@s and Xican@s in América.

Republicans and military men on John McCain

Some opinions of McCain from his own party and military "commrades" The soundtrack is "lux aeterna" composed by Clint Mansell. It was originally composed for "Requiem for a Dream" but this version was remixed for the Lord of the Rings theatrical trailer. Thanks for all the positive feedback, I read all my messages but don't always have time to respond to all of them. Islamic Crusades 5: Why did they hate us in 1783?

NOTE: WHY DO I USE THE WORD "CRUSADE"? In the two years since I posted this series I have received messages from many Christians stating that they are offended by the word "crusade" (a derivation of "cross") being associated with Islamic violence. I chose to use that word because The Crusades are something that most in the post-modern, politically correct West recognize as "evil." Many westerners are still not acquainted with the real meaning of words like "jihad," "shariah," "dhimmis", etc. Hopefully in 2010 more people DO understand the true meaning of those words. In short, I chose the word "crusades" to highlight that Christians were not the only ones who fought religious wars of conquest. My intention was not to insult Christianity. Christianity is a religion of peace that is sometimes used by extremists to justify violence. Islam is a religion of war. I pray for the day when these videos are no longer needed. Until that day I will keep the name "Islamic Crusades." *For complete links/references/commentary visit the Occidental Soapbox blog*: http://occidentalsoapbox.blogspot.com/2008/10/islamic-crusades-episode-5-why-did-they.html Why do they hate us? was a universally asked question in the United States following the 9/11 attacks. A majority on the Left and a sizable minority on the Right believe it was blow-back from our imperialistic foreign policy in the Middle East. They consistently cite three primary offenses: US support for repressive Arab regimes, US support for Israel, and the stationing of US troops in Saudi Arabia. If those are the root causes, why did the United States come under Jihadist assault only 7 years after the Declaration of Independence, when we had only just won the right to our own land, and had not the will nor the means to impose our alleged imperialist ambitions on the Middle East? History Tomorrow ~ Salt Making

The colour of the times is changing. The accelerating pace of technological, economic and social change is transforming livelihoods and landscapes; many face a danger of disappearing altogether in the not-so-distant future. We do not think it appropriate to make a normative judgment on whether this change is socially good or bad. However, we do believe that it is important to document the present for future generations that would want to look back at history, just like we do today. Though text-documentation of livelihoods and landscapes is widely available, visual recording and documentation is relatively sparse and dispersed. Given the state of video technology, it is feasible and necessary to effectively document the present, visually. This is the primary objective of HISTORY TOMORROW, an initiative launched by FAIR. http://francisbuchanan.blogspot.com
