Nel 2000 ha partecipato ai Giochi della XXVII Olimpiade a Sydney. La sua vita familiare, sin da bambino, è stata molto travagliata a causa dei continui litigi e dissapori dei suoi genitori, ora entrambi deceduti; ha più volte ammesso di aver avuto un padre solo nella figura del "Nonno" Tazzi.
