MICHEL SALGADO - "IL DUE" DEL MADRID By Xanma1987 Pequeño homenaje a uno de los laterales derechos más grandes del Real Madrid y de la historia del fútbol mundial, Michel Salgado "il due", que durante diez temporadas defendió a capa y espada la camiseta del club más importante del siglo XX el Real Madrid. * 2 veces campeón de la Copa de Europa, en 2000 y 2002 * 1 vez campeón de la Copa Intercontinental, en 2002 * 1 vez campeón de la Supercopa de Europa, en 2002 * 4 veces campeón de la Liga española, en 2001, 2003, 2007 y 2008 * 3 veces campeón de la Supercopa de España, en 2001, 2003 y 2008 * Ha sido 53 veces internacional absoluto con la selección española Llegó a la Liga un poquito después que Raúl y un poco antes de que se fuera Butragueño. El 22 de enero de 1995, al filo de las 18.15 horas, un chaval del Celta de 19 años saltó al césped del Santiago Bernabéu con los nervios haciendo de las suyas en su estómago: debutaba en Primera División y frente al Real Madrid. El destino y el fútbol han querido que aquel gallego celebre esta noche con la camiseta blanca los 10 años de un día inolvidable. Y seguramente, también lo hará con sus nervios a flor de piel. Cuando Míchel sustituyó a Milorad Ratkovic en el minuto 65, su Celta ya perdía por 3-0 ante un equipo que se paseaba por la Liga de la mano de Jorge Valdano y con el que ya soñaba. La alineación del Madrid la formaron: Buyo, Quique Flores, Lasa, Sanchís, Hierro, Luis Enrique, Milla, Laudrup, Amavisca, Raúl y Zamorano. Butragueño y Martín Vázquez, en plena despedida, entraron en la segunda parte. Por aquellas fechas, el Real Madrid no tenía presidente, a la espera de las elecciones del 20 de febrero. Irónicamente, aquella tarde, tras la goleada (4-0 final), Ramón Mendoza, que aspiraba a ser reelegido, envió el siguiente mensaje a su rival: «Si el señor Florentino Pérez tuviera la fórmula para poder fichar a los mejores jugadores del mundo yo mismo le contrataría como ojeador». Mendoza ganó las elecciones, pero no fichó a Florentino, y así le fueron las cosas. En julio de 2000 llegó Florentino al Real Madrid, y no como ojeador, precisamente. Un año antes, Míchel había firmado un contrato de cinco años por el club blanco, que pagó al Celta 2.000 millones de pesetas (12 millones de euros). El lateral dejaba atrás al equipo de sus amores, una cesión al Salamanca y un recuerdo muy triste: cuando una entrada suya provocó una grave lesión a Juninho, jugador del Atlético de Madrid. Poco antes de abandonar la camiseta celeste, el inagotable lateral había sido bautizado Il Due (El Dos) por la prensa italiana, tras su exhibición en el encuentro internacional con la selección española, en el que ofreció una lección magistral frente a la azzurra en Salerno (2-2). Llovieron las ofertas por él, pero su decisión fue la de quedarse en el Madrid, donde al año siguiente conquistó su primera Copa de Europa y donde encontraría poco después a la que hoy es su mujer, Malula, irónicamente hija de Lorenzo Sanz, el hombre al que Florentino había ganado las elecciones. Es probable que no haya en estos momentos en activo en el fútbol español ningún otro que haya recorrido tantos kilómetros como lo ha hecho Míchel Salgado (Las Nieves, Pontevedra, 1975). Al filo de la treintena, Míchel encara con la misma energía de entonces la fase madura de su carrera: «He jugado muchos partidos de fútbol en mi vida, he ganado muchas cosas, y sigo teniendo la misma ilusión que cuando comencé. Sigo con hambre de triunfos», afirma este lateral derecho, titular indiscutible y con un poder de autoestimulación envidiada por el vestuario.
