Beijing struggles to make Olympic changes permanent http://www.scmp.com/video Many improvements accompanied the Beijing Olympics. Air pollution temporarily improved, as did traffic congestion. The city's Olympic facilities were the showcase of a modern China. Now, one year after the Games, the city is struggling to make those temporary improvements more permanent. To reduce sulphur dioxide emissions, Beijing will move a major steel plant outside of its borders. It is also revisiting traffic restrictions that could reduce congestion by up to 20 per cent during the week. As for the city's Olympic facilities, keeping those looking sparkling new will depend on new business models to keep visitor traffic coming.
