The beginning and one verse from the middle (at 6:13) had to be edited out to fit it into YouTube's 10 min. requirement. But the whole movie they showed at the concert is here since it's probably supposed to represent Syd's life (or anybody's).... This is from Earl's Court, London in October of 1994. I was a Scout/Sniper with 1-23rd Infantry 2ID and served a 15 month tour in Baghdad. Feel free to ask me any questions. Due to my experiences over there I am against the war wholeheartedly. I believe we as Americans were lied to about the reasons why we went to war with Iraq. You are more than welcome to disagree with me but at least understand that my position is based of my personal experience as a grunt fighting the war. The previous blog I put up stated that I believed that Obama was going to get us out of this mess. While that remains to be seen I do not believe it is happening soon enough. I want my buddies and fellow soldiers who are in harms way for a lost cause to come home safe. If you agree with the war let me ask you this. Why is the war worth fighting for others but not for you yourself? If you believe it to be a worthy cause why not back your beliefs and relieve the stress on an overburdened military? The song was originally called Empty Spaces and shortened for The Wall album due to the overall time considerations for vinyl albums. Gerald Anthony Scarfe, CBE, RDI, (born 1 June 1936 in St John's Wood, London) is an English cartoonist and illustrator. He is best known for his work as editorial cartoonist for The Sunday Times and illustrator for The New Yorker. He has also worked for rock group Pink Floyd, particularly on Pink Floyd The Wall album (1979) and movie (1982). Scarfe was approached to work with Pink Floyd after Roger Waters and Nick Mason both saw his animated BBC film A Long Drawn Out Trip. Scarfe's first work for the band was a set of animated short clips used on the 1977 "In The Flesh" tour, including a full-length music video for the song "Welcome to the Machine". He also drew the cover illustration for their 1979 album The Wall, and in 1982 worked on the film version of The Wall, although he and Waters fell out with director Alan Parker during the latter stages of editing. As well as the artwork, Scarfe contributed 15 minutes worth of elaborate animation to the film, including a sequence depicting the German bombing campaign over England during World War II, set to the song "Goodbye Blue Sky". He was also involved in the theatrical adaptation, including The Wall Concert in Berlin, where his animations were projected on a vast scale.
