The board notes that the game no longer contains depictions of decapitation, dismemberment, wound detail or piles of dead bodies lying about the environment, the report said. No wound detail is shown and the implicitly dead bodies and blood splatter disappear as they touch the ground. -------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: ALSO CONFIRMED (30.10.09) But was unable to get footage of at time of making Infected don't actually Catch Fire in cut version (Except the Tank) however they still die in the flames. NO Blood splatters on the screen NO RIOT COP uncommon common in AUS release (violence against authority figures) (and if you play with a person who has the cut version even if you dont, the riot cop will not spawn) Pipebomb Explosion is Similar however the bodies ragdoll off and vanish in midair with out gibbing almost instantly -------------------------------------------------------------------- For those not in the know, the reason this game had 2 be modified to be released in Australia is because we don't have a R18+ rating for games here in Australia. To have one introduced, all the states have to agree that they want one, all states have said yes to this, except SA (Michael Atkinson). So it is one man stopping the rest of us getting an R18+ rating, So seeing as MA15+ is the highest we have got, the OFLC have no choice and the game must be modified to fit into that category if it is to be released here, otherwise its the ban hammer and the game gets Refused Classification(RC). So its not Valves Fault, Its not the OFLC's fault its not the governments fault... its Michael Atkinson's Fault. His Excuse is that he doesn't think we need one and that if we don't have one the children wont get introduced into Violent Video Game, He thinks he is protecting the children, however when you think about it he is doing the opposite, by refusing to have a R18+ rating he is making it so that games that would have otherwise been rated as R18+ are being modified to fit into the MA15+ rating therefore introducing those games to an even younger generation than would have been whilst at the same time punishing the rest of us by censoring the game and making a choice that should be ours for us. We Should be allowed to play this as we want, in the uncensored version you have the option to disable gore if wanted. -------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: FIX (31.10.09) There is a small fix for those that are fed this censored garbage, those that want to give it a try details are in the link below, HOWEVER take note of the following before you do so. NOTE: You can only play with other people using the same ID (510). (you can only play with others who have done this fix also, limiting your possible teammates) NOTE: this fix may not be permanent. This seems like it'll only be temporary. NOTE: May have an affect on your Gameplay Statistics and Achievements as this makes steam think you are playing a different game. (May Not save them) NOTE: You'll have to launch the game through the left4dead2.exe instead of through Steam. I beat the Running Man (proof inside) I finally beat the running man in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time after over 10 years of attempts. Ask me anything. ------------------------------------ Question: How did you do that?!? Answer: Well, the answer is simple, really. 1) Challenge the running man to a race as older Link. 2) Return back 7 years and become younger Link. 3) Wait at the bridge for nearly 7 IN-GAME years (about 1 week in real life; see Q/A a few bands below this). 4) ??? 5) Profit. ------------------------------------ Question: If I leave my console running for a full week, will it overheat? Answer: That's an unlikely (but serious) possibility. Before you attempt this, make sure you understand the risks. * I'm NOT responsible for any damage caused by attempting this! * ------------------------------------ Question: Who first discovered this? Answer: I was actually the first one to discover this technique! I discovered this in mid-January, 2009, less than a week before this video was uploaded. I performed this a second time and recorded my results for you all to see on Youtube. Don't believe that I was the first to discover this? Look at any other Running Man video on Youtube, or even on the internet. This one was uploaded first. Anyone else claiming to have figured this out first is lying to you. Let it be known that RustySporks/faramir77 on Youtube/GameFAQs found this out first. I'm sick of hearing people claiming this video as their own. ------------------------------------ Question: What do you get from doing this? Nothing? Answer: For almost a year and a half, I thought you would get nothing from this. However, in late May 2010, I found that you can access a strange room in Zora's Domain after beating the Running Man. Answer: Clearly this video proves that to be wrong. If you truly don't believe me, try this yourself. Be sure to tell me in a comment that it worked. ------------------------------------ Question: It's obvious that you used Gameshark/Action Replay/other cheating device. Didn't you? Answer: Very honestly, no. I swear on my life that I did not use any type of cheating device to beat him. Guess again. ------------------------------------ Question: Wait, if you went back to the past, and then waited for seven years, how did you become older Link? And how do you have all your older Link items? Answer: That's an interesting question with a simple answer. While you're sitting at the bridge, immediately after 7 years passes, younger Link automatically turns into older Link. There is nothing in between, it just blinks and younger Link becomes older Link. Your items, sword, and clothes equipped change immediately as well, to whatever it would be if you went and pulled out the Master Sword. Speaking of which, you have the Master Sword as well, which is weird, I know. If you go to the Temple of Time, the Master Sword is strangely not there, so if you go there you can still put the Master Sword away and become younger Link again. ------------------------------------ Question: So you say I have to wait the equivalent of seven years, right? How long is that in real life? Answer: It is about one week in real life. One in-game day from dawn to the next dawn is 4 minutes, so just do the math from there. There are about 2556 days in 7 years. I recorded this on an emulated copy of the game (I didn't want to leave my poor old N64 running for days and days). There was an option on the emulator to turn off "FPS Limit", which made this take much less time. ------------------------------------ Question: Is it possible to play the Sun's Song multiple times instead of waiting for a week? Answer: Although I haven't tried myself, I've heard from [fairly dedicated] people that playing the Sun's Song multiple times does work. However, keep in mind that there are about 2556 in-game days in the 7 in-game years that you must pass. The Sun's Song only makes time go forward 12 hours, so you must play the Sun's Song twice for one day to pass. That's 5112 Sun's Songs. It would be much easier just to wait than spend your time playing the Sun's Song over and over again. ------------------------------------ Question: If I wait a week anywhere, will young Link become adult Link, allowing me to become adult Link before completing the first few temples? Answer: No. Nintendo designed it that if you wait a week during the Running Man race as younger Link, you'll turn into an adult. You can't do this unless you've started the race with the Running Man (which has to be as an adult), with the timer going and everything. Eugenics - Human Sperm Created in British Lab British scientists claim a first in medical history by using embryonic stem cells to create human sperm in a laboratory. Researchers at Newcastle Uni hope it will help infertile couples but it has sparked an ethical debate. Sky's Gerard Tubb reports. In a world first, British scientists have grown human sperm in the laboratory. The breakthrough in stem cell science offers a potential cure for male infertility and could be used in IVF clinics in as little as five years. It would allow thousands of men to father children that are genetically their own, possibly from just a sliver of their skin. But the cutting-edge work is fraught with medical and ethical problems. It raises the possibility of babies being born entirely through artificial means, and even the macabre scenario of long-dead men 'fathering' children from beyond the grave. The Newcastle University work centres on stem cells - 'blank' cells with the ability to turn into other cell types. Biologist Karim Nayernia created a cocktail of chemicals and vitamins that turned human stem cells into sperm, the journal Stem Cells and Development reports today. Viewed through a microscope, they have heads and tails and swim like normal sperm, and Professor Nayernia is 'convinced' they would be capable of fertilising eggs and creating babies. He has more safety checks to carry out but plans to apply for permission to use some of the artificial sperm to fertilise eggs for research purposes. The stem cells used were taken from embryos in the first days of life but the professor hopes to repeat his success with skin cells taken from a man's arm. These would first be exposed to a mixture that wound back their biological clocks to embryonic stem cell state, before being transformed into sperm. Using IVF techniques, the artificial sperm could be injected into eggs, allowing men who do not produce sperm to father children of their own. However, British law forbids the use of lab-grown sperm or eggs in fertility treatment - a situation the researchers believe needs to change. Lab-grown sperm could also shed light on the causes of infertility, leading to new treatments for the heartbreaking but little-understood condition that affects one in six couples. Identification of a flaw in the sperm-making process could lead to the creation of a 'miracle pill' to boost fertility. Professor Nayernia said: 'This is an important development as it will allow researchers to study in detail how sperm forms and lead to a better understanding of infertility in men - why it happens and what is causing it. Male infertility is a growing problem and no one knows why. We'll be able to study the effects of pollution and nutrition in the lab.' But the researcher also acknowledged that the technique could potentially be applied to skin cells taken from men who have been dead for many years, allowing them to 'father' children. He said: 'This is the Jurassic Park scenario. In theory this would be possible but human reproduction is not a purely biological process. We have to think of the psychological, social and ethical considerations.' The Newcastle team tried to create sperm from stem cells from female embryos but failed - suggesting that men will always have an important role in the creation of life. But, in time, it may be possible to create eggs from a woman's stem cells, raising the possibility of artificial eggs and sperm being combined to create children through entirely artificial means. Rival stem cell experts questioned whether the professor had created fully-functioning sperm and warned that similar experiments on mice had led to the birth of young with a host of health problems. Opponents said it was wrong to meddle with the creation of human life. Josephine Quintavalle, of campaign group Comment on Reproductive Ethics, said: 'To take a viable human embryo and destroy it in a bid to create dodgy sperm to create a not-so-healthy embryo is experimentation for experimentation's sake. 'Infertility is an issue we have to address but this is not an ethical solution. If the solution involves the sacrifice of human life, then it should be apparent to anyone that it is unacceptable.' Dr Trevor Stammers, a GP and lecturer in healthcare ethics, warned that the technology could be 'used and abused' to create children who did not know who their father was. And he said there were easier ways of tackling fertility problems. He said: 'Obviously there are men who through no bad habits or indulgences find themselves with a fertility problem but alcohol, smoking and drug misuse don't help. 'Alcohol alone is a huge cause of infertility in men.'
